Top College Basketball Picks for Wednesday, February 9 (2022)

College basketball has been a grind all year. Luckily, we’ve been beating the closing line most of the time. That only means profit in the long run! Here are my three college basketballs plays for today, Wednesday, February 9.

Eastern Kentucky vs. Jacksonville: Eastern Kentucky +4.5

(7:00 PM ET tip)

Eastern Kentucky hasn’t been all that great on the defensive end. However, the Colonels do one thing well, forcing turnovers, earning 22.9 percent of turnovers this season. Meanwhile, Jacksonville is turning the ball over 20.1 percent of the time.

Jacksonville also isn’t getting to the line at a high rate. While offensive rebounds might be in play for the Dolphins, Eastern Kentucky’s still likely going to get more shot attempts due to the forced turnovers.

The Colonels are shooting 34.1 percent from downtown and turn the ball over just 16.6 percent of the time. The foul line isn’t a thing for Eastern Kentucky. However, they’re easily the better offense. If they’re getting more shot attempts, I like Eastern Kentucky to at least cover the spread.

Bet: Eastern Kentucky +4.5 (-110)

Bellarmine vs. North Florida: North Florida +2.5

(7:00 PM ET tip)

The North Florida Ospreys have won three of their last four games and are playing their best brand of basketball this season. At home, they’ll be a bit more comfortable and could knock off Bellarmine.

It’s obvious that Bellarmine shoots at a high percentage. But Bellarmine has also been awful on the offensive glass and rarely gets second-chance opportunities. If you’re not getting second chances against North Florida, it’s not going to go well for you.

Meanwhile, North Florida doesn’t shy away from shooting the three. While the Ospreys shoot just 32.9 percent, they’re very capable of knocking down many throughout a game. Bellarmine is allowing teams to shoot an effective field goal percentage of 54.1. So, I’d like to think North Florida can get hot from deep and win this game.

Bet: North Florida +2 (-110)

Northern Kentucky vs. Milwaukee: Northern Kentucky -135

(8:00 PM ET tip)

It’s time for Northern Kentucky to start a new winning streak. After watching a six-game streak come to an end against Detroit, Northern Kentucky is going to want to get back on track against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, on the other hand, has lost five straight and all have been in conference play and losses by at least 10 points.

Northern Kentucky dominates the offensive glass, shoots a solid amount of threes at an average rate, and forces turnovers without sending teams to the line consistently. Those are the four areas where the Norse should excel over the Panthers.

Bet: Northern Kentucky (-135)
