Top College Basketball Picks for Wednesday, March 2 (2022)

Despite many conference tournaments beginning tonight, no game stood out to me from a betting angle. However, I was able to find three regular-season bets that are exciting. Let’s waste no time and get right to the picks for Wednesday, March 2.

Western Kentucky vs Marshall: Western Kentucky -130

(7:00 p.m. ET)

Western Kentucky has been on a tear recently, winning seven of its last eight games. The Hilltoppers are now one of the top teams in the Conference-USA and would love to finish off the season with two wins against Marshall.

WKU is shooting 36.9 percent from deep and 51.9 percent inside. The Hilltoppers also get to the line at a high rate and could end up with more offensive rebounds than they’re used to with Marshall being poor on the defensive glass. On the other hand, Marshall allows opponents to shoot 35.4 percent from deep and 51.4 percent from inside. The Thundering Herd are below average in most categories defensively, giving Western Kentucky plenty of ways to score.

On offense, Marshall will score inside, hitting 53.2 percent of shots, but from deep, they’ve hit 29.3 percent of shots and have struggled to get to the line consistently. It won’t get any easier with WKU ranking in the top spot in defensive FTA/FGA. Give me WKU on the road here.

Bet: Western Kentucky -130 at WynnBet

Nicholls State vs Texas A&M Corpus Christi: Texas A&M +2.5 (-110)

(8:30 p.m. ET)

Nicholls State has been on fire recently, winning eight of its last nine games. However, each of those eight wins came against teams that rank 313 or worse, except for one game, which was Texas Corpus Christi at home in which they won in overtime. At home, Texas Corpus Christi will be looking for win number 20, and analytics suggest it’ll happen.

Nicholls State has struggled on the defensive glass and Texas A&M Corpus Christi is grabbing 35 percent of offensive rebounds. Nicholls State is also fouling at a very high rate, while Texas A&M Corpus Christi is getting to the line at a very high rate. So despite Corpus Christi shooting at a poor rate, the Islanders just do the little things to win games.

Bet: Texas A&M Corpus Christi +2.5 -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

Marquette vs DePaul: Marquette -125

(9:00 p.m. ET)

It’s been an up and down season for Marquette. But the Golden Eagles can still win 20 games to close out the regular season. Marquette has already defeated DePaul at home and should feel confident against them on the road tonight.

Marquette is shooting lights out from the field, knocking down 35.1 percent from three and 52.8 percent from inside. It’s the same from the foul line, with Marquette shooting an above-average 74 percent. Second chances are sometimes hard to come by but turnovers are limited to 17 percent, which is solid.

On the other hand, DePaul is shooting 31.8 percent from three and 49 percent from inside the arc. The shooting won’t be nearly as crisp. While DePaul might earn some second chances on the offensive glass, Marquette has held opponents to 31.6 percent from three and 45.5 percent from inside the arc. That should be enough to get the win outright.

Bet: Marquette -125 at FanDuel
