Top MLB Betting Odds & Picks for Monday, June 13th (2022)

The theme of the weekend (and the last week and a half) has been the two blazing hot teams from the NL East. While the Atlanta Braves ran their season-long winning streak to 11 games, the Philadelphia Phillies had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Sunday by the Diamondbacks. Nonetheless, the division race got much tighter, as the Braves trimmed the Mets’ lead to 5.5 games after New York endured a 5-5-5 road trip against three California teams.

How many more games will the Braves add to their winning streak this week, and who is the next team ready to rip off a string of wins?

Here are our best bets for Monday’s MLB action. (Odds courtesy of DraftKings)

Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays RL

Several veterans anchor the Blue Jays rotation, but its most talented and most important pitcher as they try and chase down the Yankees is 24-year-old Alek Manoah (7-1, 1.81). Manoah’s seven wins, .875 winning percentage, and 1.81 ERA lead the league, as does his 218 ERA+. He is 16-3 through 31 starts to begin his career but has been unbeatable at home, going 9-0 with a 2.12 ERA in 14 home starts. Thus, a Baltimore team that is 11-20 on the road and 17-23 against winning teams is not likely to be the first to beat him at the Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays are 45-19 in their last 64 meetings with the Orioles, and we expect Manoah to lead his team to another convincing victory.

Bet: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 Runs (-145 at DraftKings)

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers Team Total O/U

The Rangers are the second-highest scoring team in the division, and their offense is starting to click of late, scoring five or more runs in four of their last seven games (six of those seven were on the road). They will have their work cut out for them to score runs in this upcoming series with the Astros, as Houston’s pitching staff ranks second in the majors with a 3.03 team ERA.

The Rangers have scored just 19 runs in the eight games against the Astros this season but are facing Houston’s most vulnerable pitcher in the series opener. Cristian Javier (3-3, 3.22) has by far the lowest ground ball rate (26.7%) of any of Houston’s starters, and only Jose Urquidy has a worse BABIP than Javier’s .310. His 34.1% hard-hit percentage is also second-worst on the staff, suggesting his days of pitching to a low-3.00 ERA may be short-lived.

The under has cashed in the last four meetings in Texas between these teams and is 8-1-2 in the previous 11 meetings overall. However, we think these trends significantly impact Texas’ low team total and expect them to exceed the 3.5 runs with a hittable Javier on the mound.

Bet: Texas Rangers Team Total OVER 3.5 Runs (-115 at DraftKings)
