New York Mets vs. Pittsburgh Pirates O/U

If the Mets do not start regaining the offensive momentum that built them a decent cushion in the NL East, the Braves will soon surpass them, as New York starts the day just one game ahead.

The Mets squandered a golden opportunity to keep breathing room between them and Atlanta, as they lost the final two games of a three-game series against the lowly Nationals. While New York’s pitching is largely to blame, as it allowed 14 runs over the last 18 innings, its offense has been just as atrocious, scoring two runs in that span. The Mets put just four runners in scoring position over the weekend’s two games, and an Eduardo Escobar solo home run was their only extra-base hit.

We expect the Mets to be sluggish after traveling, and this being the first game of the day at 12:35 p.m. ET.

The under has cashed in Pittsburgh’s last five games, as it has totaled just five runs over the previous four. These two offenses rank 24th and 26th in wRC+ over the last seven days, and we expect the poor offensive output to continue.

Bet: Mets-Pirates UNDER 8.5 (-115 at DraftKings)

Cleveland Guardians vs. Kansas City Royals ML

Much like the Mets are doing their best to give their division lead away, so are the Guardians, who have lost five consecutive games after being swept at home by the Mariners. And like the Mets, we also expect Cleveland to be sluggish in today’s game after having to endure a lengthy three-hour rain delay in the series finale before making this trip to Kansas City.

Kansas City’s Brady Singer (7-4, 3.33) is earning the title of the league’s best pitcher that the casual fan still may not know about. Singer ranks 12th among all qualified AL starting pitchers with a 2.32 ERA over the last 30 days. Not only are his numbers heroic, but the team feeds off his electricity on the mound. Since July 3, the Royals are 9-2 in Singer’s starts, even though they are just 26-32 as a team since then.

Conversely, Cleveland’s Triston McKenzie (9-11, 3.18) is just 2-5 in his last seven starts, and the team appears to be tightening up down the stretch, going 3-7 in its last ten games.

Kansas City is 5-1 in its last six Monday games, and it is a great value play to improve that record to 6-1 today.

Bet: Kansas City Royals ML (+110 at DraftKings)
