Top MLB Betting Odds & Picks for Tuesday, June 7th (2022)

We go from a five-game MLB slate on Monday to 16 games today as every team is in action. Interleague play is the theme, as five games are between AL and NL teams, some of which have not played a series in years.

Here are our best bets for Tuesday’s MLB action. (Odds courtesy of DraftKings)

Chicago Cubs vs. Baltimore Orioles O/U

The Chicago Cubs have openly said they envision a scenario where Keegan Thompson goes back to a role as a reliever, but the way he has pitched as a starter, it will be tough to remove him from the rotation. Thompson (6-0, 1.99) is one of four pitchers with at least six wins and zero losses but the only one who plays outside the NL West. While Thompson has been lights out thus far, he is averaging less than five innings per start, as the team is cautious with his pitch count. And considering his counterpart, Kyle Bradish (1-3, 6.82), is also averaging less than five innings per start through his seven innings, we will see plenty of each team’s bullpen. The Orioles pen ranks 29th in the league over the last 14 days in K/9 (6.32), while Chicago’s bullpen ranks 24th with a 5.60 ERA in that span.

The over is 6-1 in Chicago’s last seven games against teams with a losing record and 6-1-1 in Baltimore’s last eight games overall. We like both of those trends to continue tonight.

Bet: Cubs-Orioles OVER 9 Runs (-110 at DraftKings)

Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates First Five Innings O/U

Though Detroit’s Tarik Skubal is just 4-2, the season he has had while pitching for a 21-33 Tigers team should not go unnoticed. Skubal has not allowed an earned run in four of his last five starts, a stretch that spans 32 innings. He went 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA in five May starts and allowed a minuscule .193 OBA and 0.87 WHIP. That ERA ranked second, and the WHIP ranked sixth of any starting pitcher in May.

Pittsburgh’s Jose Quintana is also enjoying a quietly impressive season, pitching to a 2.32 ERA despite having just one win to show for it. He faces a Detroit team that entered yesterday ranked tied for 27th in OPS (.635) against lefties, largely because the Tigers have hit just five home runs in 111 at-bats against southpaws this year.

The under is 6-1 in Detroit’s last seven interleague games against a left-handed starter and is 3-0-1 in Pittsburgh’s previous four against lefties. With these teams’ poor projections against the opposition’s starting pitcher, we will take bullpens out of the equation and limit this wager to the first five innings.

Bet: Tigers-Pirates F5 UNDER 3.5 Runs (-115 at DraftKings)

Toronto Blue Jays/Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies/San Francisco Giants ML Parlay

The Blue Jays and Giants have steep -210 or higher moneyline odds tonight, as each has a significant pitching advantage over their opponent. The under has cashed in Alek Manoah’s last seven starts as a road favorite, while Kansas City is 0-5 in Brad Keller’s previous five starts as a home underdog. In addition, Toronto is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these teams. In the other leg of the parlay, we are backing a Giants team that has won five of six meetings with the Rockies this year. Furthermore, Colorado’s four wins (4-12 record) against teams over .500 are the fewest in the league by a wide margin, and we do not expect them to break through against Carlos Rodon, as they are 7-10 against left-handed starters.

Bet: Blue Jays/Giants ML Parlay (+114 at DraftKings)
