Top MLB Parlay Odds & Picks for Wednesday, May 18 (2022)

We went 2-for-3 in our first parlay of the week. While the White Sox and Rays came through easily, the Red Sox created history by allowing the Astros to hit five home runs in one inning.

I didn’t see that coming.

So let’s try again today. Here are my top three MLB plays all parlayed into one play for the MLB slate on May 18.

(Odds courtesy DraftKings)

Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland Athletics

The Minnesota Twins will pitch Sonny Gray, who has been nearly unhittable since returning from the Injured List. Gray has a 2.72 xFIP in the last 30 days while striking ut 41.7% of batters in that time frame.

The Athletics have just a .104 ISO and wOBA of .249 with their projected lineup in the same time frame.

On the other hand, Daulton Jefferies will take the mound for the Athletics. He has a 4.68 xFIP with 17% strikeouts. He has been able to limit walks but is still giving up hard contact and getting rocked by righties. The entire top of the order for the Twins has been successful against righties and should have n problem getting hits off Jefferies.

Let’s ride the Twins here.

Bet: Twins (-155 at DraftKings)

Nationals vs. Marlins

There are a lot of mismatches between pitchers. But this game might be the icing on the cake. It’s going to be Josiah Gray on the mound for the Nationals against Pablo Lopez of the Marlins.

Lopez has a 2.80 xFIP in the last 30 days with 31.1% of strikeouts. He’s also walked just 4.1% of batters and has been one of the most elite pitchers this season.

Gray, on the other hand, has a 5.53 xFIP in that same time frame with 10.9% of walks. He’s also getting just 21.1% of ground balls while allowing 26.3% of line drives. That’s just not going to cut it.

Gray is still going through some growing pains as a young pitcher. He’ll be very good one day. Just not yet.

Bet: Marlins (-190 at DraftKings)

Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays

My eyes get wide when I see the Blue Jays taking on a lefty. The Blue Jays fill their lineup with nine righties going up against a lefty almost every time.

Tonight, the Blue Jays take on Marco Gonzales, who has a 6.05 xFIP in the last 30 days with just 14% of strikeouts and 10.3% of walks. He’s been worse against lefties recently but the Blue Jays just destroy lefties no matter who is on the mound.

Toronto is literally striking out just 12% of the time against lefties with their projected lineup in the last 30 days. The ball will be put in play and good things usually happen when the ball is always in play.

Meanwhile, Kevin Gausman will take the hill for the Blue Jays. He’s been sensational with an xFIP of 2.79 in the last 30 days. He’s striking out 30.8% of batters in the last 30 days and only walking 1.5% of batters while inducing over 50% of ground balls and limiting line drives to under 15%.

I’ll gladly add the Blue Jays into the parlay.

Bet: Blue Jays (-250 at DraftKings)

Parlay: (+251 at DraftKings)
