San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are coming off a win against the Orlando Magic, 121-95 last night. But they’ll be right back in action with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs in the second game of a back-to-back.

Meanwhile, the Spurs haven’t played since February 3 and have much more rest despite being on the road.

Still, I don’t think it matters too much. The Spurs have lost four consecutive games and have just ten wins this season. They’re below average in every significant offensive category, while the Heat are above average in most defensive categories.

The Heat have an advantage with turnovers, rebounding, and free throw rate on the defensive end.

Meanwhile, Miami hasn’t been spectacular offensively themselves. The Heat have performed more consistently than the Spurs offensively and will get to face a Spurs defense that has struggled throughout most of the year.

San Antonio has allowed a 56.5% effective field goal percentage and 119.1 points per 100 possessions, which is 23rd in the NBA.

But at -7.5, in the second game of a back-to-back, Miami could struggle a bit offensively. The Heat usually don’t have a great effective field goal percentage per game, and the Spurs are typically good at limiting fouls.

Therefore, we’ll back the Under 224.5 (-15).

Bet: Under 224.5 (-115)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have won four straight games heading into this one. All four of those games were on the road, but now they’re back home looking to earn their fifth consecutive win.

On the other hand, the Pelicans have added three straight wins themselves, with two road wins and a home win. It’s unclear if Zion Williamson will play due to a foot injury. He’s currently listed as questionable.

That said, the Clippers have become the best offense in the NBA. Los Angeles has scored 122.4 points per 100 possessions and has added a 57.9% effective field goal percentage, which ranks second in the NBA.

Los Angeles gets to the line at a high rate and only turns the ball over 13% of the time. It’s unlikely the Clippers will dominate the Pelicans on the offensive glass, but they’ll get some good looks from the field.

On the other hand, the Pelicans will likely add more second chances off misses. The Clippers have allowed 28.1% of offensive rebounds, which is really the only area of concern for the Clippers on defense.

The Clippers have held teams to a 53.3% effective field goal percentage and are defensively above average on turnover percentage and free throw rate.

The Pelicans and Clippers have each won a game on the road against one another. This time, I like the home team. Give me the Clippers at -7.5.

Bet: Clippers -7.5 (+100)
