Saturday’s Best NBA Preseason Bets

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Atlanta Hawks

The New Orleans Pelicans have started the year 0-2. The Pelicans have lost to the Magic and Rockets while allowing at least 120 points in each game. Meanwhile, the offense hasn’t even contributed 200 points combined in both games. New Orleans just lost to the Rockets at home, 120-87. This happened when Zion Williams, Brandon Ingram, and the other starters played more than 20 minutes each.

On the other hand, the Hawks have won back-to-back one-point games against the Cavaliers and Grizzlies. Trae Young looked great in his last game. Meanwhile, Kobe Bufkin just added 12 off the bench in 22 minutes. He’s been confidently shooting the ball.

Therefore, we’ll back the Hawks in this game.

Bet: Hawks -2.5 (-110)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New York Knicks

The Timberwolves could be good this year if everyone stays healthy. They’ve gone 2-0 in Preseason, with back-to-back wins over the Mavericks. They held the Mavericks to below 100 points in each win. Kyrie Irving only played in one of the two games, but in the game he played in, he scored two points in 14 minutes. Luka Doncic is elite. But with Kyrie Irving, there are many more questions about how they’ll win.

Meanwhile, the Knicks earned a 114-107 against Boston’s backups in their first preseason game. Still, Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle barely played in that game. Immanuel Quickley scored 21 in 23 minutes, which was fantastic to see. Only Josh Hart is listed on the Game-Time Decision board right now. Therefore, I like the Knicks to escape with a win in MSG.

Bet: Knicks -3.5  (-110)

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Utah Jazz

The Blazers defeated a team from New Zealand to Preseason preseason. However, they lost 122-111 to the Suns in their only NBA preseason action. Portland’s expected to be a bottom-tier team this year after trading away Damian Lillard. However, Scoot Henderson looks electric, and the starting lineup looks better than some want to let on. They’ve even got Malcolm Brogdon coming off the bench with Kris Murray and Mattise Thybulle.

On the other hand, the Jazz have so much depth. Talen Horton-Tucker lit it up in his last game despite the Jazz losing to the Clippers 103-98. They traded wins and losses with the Clippers in the Preseason. Still, the loss came against the Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George playing.

I love the depth of both of these teams. But the Blazers intrigue me a bit more.

Bet: Blazers +3.5 (-110)
