College Football Week 1 Bets & Picks: UTSA vs. Texas A&M
(Odds Courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
UTSA vs. No. 19 Texas A&M
Texas A&M is going to be a run-first team with a dual-threat QB in Marcel Reed and Le'Veon Moss at running back, working behind a veteran offensive line (all five starters returned). On the defensive side of the ball, they lost some excellent pass rushers. However, with eight returning starters, some talent acquired from the transfer portal, and a deep roster, the defense is poised to be even better.
However, while UTSA lost a lot of people from last year's solid team, Owen McCown and his talented wide receiver room are going to test an A&M secondary (that wasn't very good last year) early and often.
A&M will win this game. Why? Because they are playing at home, their run game will grind it out, keeping McCown and the UTSA passing game off the field and out of the endzone. However, I expect the Roadrunners’ offense will be on the field enough to break a few long pass plays for touchdowns or to set up touchdowns, and stay within 20.
Pick: UTSA +23.5 (-110)
