The Seattle Storm might be a little tired heading into today’s game. Two days ago, the Storm played a double-overtime game against the Minnesota Lynx. It was their second game against the Lynx, but the Storm couldn’t hold on, eventually losing 102-93.
Nneka Ogwumike added 24 points and 11 rebounds in 43 minutes. She even shot 9-for-12 from the field. While the Storm lacks depth, once Jewell Loyd starts to hit shots, the Storm will be a tough out with about four consistent scorers between Loyd, Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Ezi Magbegor.
That said, against Minnesota, the Storm shot just 39.7% from the field and hit only 25% from three. On the other hand, the Mystics have had a more difficult schedule at the beginning of the year. They’ve played the New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun.
In the most recent game against the Sun, the Mystics didn’t have a single 20-point scorer. Ariel Atkins was ice-cold from three and Brittney Sykes left the game six minutes in due to an ankle injury. She’s unlikely to play in today’s game, which is already a major blow for the Mystics.
Therefore, I’d grab the Storm against the spread and pair it with the Under in the game. The Storm have more elite scorers, but they’re not shooting it well right now. In addition, they’re coming off a two-overtime game, which will likely slow them down. It just won’t slow them down enough for the Mystics to win or even cover.
