2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds & Picks (July 4)
We will get a new winner in this year’s Men’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Joey Chestnut has won the contest for eight straight years and holds the record with 76 hot dogs eaten in the contest. But he’s not competing this year because of a partnership with Impossible Foods, a competitor of Nathan’s, so he’s reportedly been banned from competing.
With Chestnut out of the competition, the field is wide open for the 2024 Men’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Here are some of the best bets to consider, including a bet on the women’s side.

2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Best Bets
(Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook)
Men’s Outright Winner
Geoffrey Esper is the current favorite to win this year’s contest. He’s finished second to Chestnut for three consecutive years and ate 49 hot dogs last year. He didn’t come close to Chestnut, who had 62, but Esper now has a legitimate chance to beat the rest of the field.
Esper has become popular in the competitive eating world. He’s on YouTube and has set many world records while teaching in Massachusetts.
That said, while he finished second last year, he only beat Australia’s James Webb by two hot dogs.
Bet: Geoffrey Esper (-105)
Men’s Outright Winner
James Webb is second on this year’s list with +145 odds. He doesn’t have much experience, though. This will only be his third time competing at Coney Island’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
However, he’s much younger than Esper, which could play to his advantage.
I should also note that Webb won the National Donut Day World Donut Eating Championship with 70 glazed donuts in 10 minutes under a month ago.
Bet: James Webb (+145)
Over/Under 46.5 Hot Dogs Eaten By Nick Wehry
Last year, Nick Wehry ate 45 hot dogs and finished in fourth place. He’s got a legitimate chance to at least place in the top three. But he’s already 35, and some suggest his best is behind him.
Before his 45 hot dogs in 2023, he ate 40 in 2022 and didn’t even reach 45 in 2021.
A 46.5 line is pretty hefty. While it’s not fun to bet on the under in a hot dog eating contest, you’ll want to consider this one.
Bet: Under (-115)
Over/Under 40.5 Hot Dogs Eaten by Miki Sudo
Miki Sudo holds the women’s record for hot dogs eaten at Coney Island with 48.5 hot dogs.
Sudo is Nick Wehry’s wife and has the chance to be the big star of this year’s event. While the men’s side should be much more competitive, Sudo will likely dominate her competition. She’s -1200 to win the Women’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and is likely to eat at least 41 hot dogs.
Bet: Over (-155)
