Wednesday’s Best Bets For The Paris Olympics
Here are our top plays of the day for 7/24. Bets via DraftKings.
Rugby: Japan vs. New Zealand
The New Zealand National Rugby team has won 14 of the 24 World Rugby Sevens Series, making it the most successful team in world history.
In the 2023-’24 season, New Zealand finished in third place in the World Rugby Sevens Series and won the last two legs of the regular season.
This team has only been to two tournaments at the Summer Olympics. In both of those tournaments, New Zealand failed to add Gold. However, in Gold2020, New Zealand made it into the Grand Final but was beaten by Fiji. Therefore, they finished as runners-up. However, this year, they’re major threats to win Goldgold.
In 2016, New Zealand lost to Japan 14-12 in the pool stage. In 2020, New Zealand had only one win with a deficit of more than 28.5.
Meanwhile, in 2021, in Tokoyo, during the 2020 Summer Olympics, Japan only lost to Fiji, 24-19. It just feels like the 28.5-point spread is a little too much for New Zealand despite their quest for Gold.
Let’s Gold Japan +28.5 (+115)
Japan +28.5 (+115)
Soccer: USA vs. France
This isn’t the same men’s national teams. To participate in the Olympics, you must be under 23. There are still some notable names on each roster.
For example, the United States will still have Walker Zimmerman, who has played on the actual U.S. national team.
That said, the United States has never placed better than fourth in the Olympics and has proven that it is unable to develop talent at this level.
The USA entered the Olympics after earning a 2022 Concacaf win over Honduras. Now, they’ll have to face some of the next-generation talent from France. It won’t be an easy challenge to begin the Olympics.
France is led by Alexandre Lacazette, who is already playing for Lyon in the France Ligue 1. He was previously on Arsenal in the English Premier League for half a dozen years.
However, we’re just getting started in the Olympic games. Don’t expect lots of scoring out of the gate. France will likely hold the U.S. on the board and potentially find an early goal and coast. Let’s back the Under 2.5 goals in this matchup.
Under 2.5 (+120)
