Monday’s Best 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Picks & Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Chelsea vs. LAFC Picks & Bets
Chelsea could potentially begin today’s game with six new players, including 19-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders and 22-year-old striker Liam Delap. There’s no doubt about Chelsea’s talent, but having a bunch of new players on the pitch could be a bit challenging.
Meanwhile, LAFC has a former Chelsea player in Olivier Giroud. Behind Giroud, LAFC is unbeaten in its last 10 matches and earned its spot in this tournament by beating Club America 2-1 in extra time.
Chelsea has much more talent and will try to figure some things out with their new-look squad. They’re hoping to earn a win while also trying to find the right combinations.
Expect Chelsea to control possession and earn some transition chances throughout the game. On the other hand, LAFC has had success with set plays in the MLS. The issue is that it’s unlikely LAFC will earn a high rate of possession, thus limiting their chances at putting together solid set plays. The back line for Chelsea should be prepared and able to keep LAFC away from the net.
Consider Chelsea -1.5.
Pick: Chelsea -1.5 (-175)
Boca Juniors vs. Benfica Picks & Bets
Benfica finished second in the Primeira Liga in Portugal and won the Portuguese League Cup. They also advanced to the top 16 of the Champions League before being eliminated. They’ll be backed by Vangelis Pavlidis and Kerem Akturkoglu, who have combined for nearly 50 goals this season.
They’ll take on Boca Juniors from Argentina. Edinson Cavani is the big name at Boca Juniors, but he’s only scored twice over the last 12 matches. Ultimately, that’s been the story for Boca Juniors. They’re playing inconsistently, adding just two wins and two draws in their last five domestic matches.
Look for Benfica to put together some organized play that includes solid transitions. Conversely, Boca Juniors will likely have more fans on their side in this game. But they’re more about defense than anything else. Benfica has scored at a solid rate, but could struggle in the first game in this Group Stage matchup against Boca.
Let’s ride with the under.
Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-120)
Flamengo vs. Esperance Sportive de Tunis Picks & Bets
Flamengo has earned a +20 differential over their last 11 games in Brazil. They’ve won numerous tournaments under manager Filipe Luis, including the Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Carioca. There’s plenty of talent on the roster, including Pedro, who recently returned from an ACL injury.
Flamengo will compete against Esperance Sportive de Tunis from Tunisia. They qualified for this tournament thanks to their high ranking in Africa. They’ve had six clean sheets in their last nine games thanks to playing 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 formations. They typically focus on defense more than anything. It’s unlikely Esperance Sportive de Tunis will be able to score against Flamengo. They’ll potentially stay competitive early, but Flamengo will eventually find some answers.
Ride Flamengo -1.5, as a 2-0 win is in sight.
Pick: Flamengo -1.5 (+105)
