Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl Odds

The Cardinals certainly have a shot at winning the Super Bowl in 2022, but they don’t crack the top 10 most likely teams by odds. These odds are reflective of a few things:  Most obviously, Arizona’s 2021 late-season collapse was a fall from grace. After starting the season 7-0, Arizona finished just 4-7.

Next, consider that superstar DeAndre Hopkins is suspended for the first six weeks. As if the loss of Hopkins for a third of the season isn’t enough, the Cardinals are entering the 2022 season without their RB 1a Chase Edmonds, former all-pro Chandler Jones and 2021 team-leading receiver Christian Kirk.

That said, Arizona has improved in its last three seasons under Kliff Kingsbury. With a healthy Kyler Murray and the addition of his former college teammate Marquise Brown, the Cardinals are poised to have a productive offense while J.J. Watt and the defense should repeat as a top-10 unit.

I imagine the true odds are closer to +2500. If you genuinely believe this is the Cardinals’ year, +3500 is a good value. I’ll be staying away from this one.

Arizona Cardinals Conference Winner Odds

With Tom Brady looking to take the Buccaneers (+333 to win the NFC) on one last run, the Los Angeles Rams (+500) poised to make it back to the big dance and the Green Bay Packers (+1000) still having MVP Aaron Rodgers; the Cardinals certainly feel like a long shot to win the NFC.

Again, there’s some value at +1600, but it’s not enough for me to take the pick. I’d sooner take the Cardinals at +3500 to win the Super Bowl. I’ll stay away.

Arizona Cardinals Division Winner Odds

I couldn’t find any articles indicating whether or not Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford are still eating breakfast together during the offseason. Still, with the major additions of Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson to this already-stacked team, I can’t bet against the Los Angeles Rams, who are +125 to win the division.

The 49ers and Seahawks are both big question marks. Though the 49ers are +200, we don’t know if Trey Lance is the real deal. They had a solid playoff run last season, and a QB upgrade could be all they need to make a significant leap.

That said, even if the Seattle Seahawks at +1600 find themselves with elite QB play from Drew Lock or Geno Smith, the Seahawks are not a better all-around team than the Cardinals.

I like the Cardinals to come in second in the NFC West. At +300, there’s good value, but too much talent in Los Angeles and San Fransisco for me to happily and confidently take a side. I’ll stay away, yet again.

Arizona Cardinals Win Totals Over/Under Odds

The Cardinals to finish with o8.5 wins at plus money feels like a bargain on paper. Murray looked like a legitimate MVP contender with the Cardinals starting last season 7-0. This is a team that had a top-10 defense led by J.J. Watt and a solid young head coach.

Unfortunately, football is not played on paper. The Cardinals are playing four games against the AFC West, twice against the Rams and a week 16 game against Tampa Bay. Just eyeballing the Cardinals’ schedule, they’re favorites in 8 games, just less than 8.5 games needed to win this bet.

8.5 games is an entirely reasonable line and one I Iean over on. Given that it’s at plus odds,  I’ll happily take the Cardinals over 8.5 wins. I think Kingsbury has done enough with this team (when it’s healthy) to make the 2022 Cardinals contenders – or at least a .500 team

Arizona Cardinals to Make the Playoffs Odds

The Cardinals made the playoffs for the first time in 2021 under Kingsbury and have improved each of their three seasons. I’ve mentioned above why I think Arizona is a legitimate contender. But still, this line is nearly identical to over 8.5 wins at +110.

Save me the heartache of another team squeaking in – I’ll avoid this bet and just take Arizona over 8.5 wins.

Cardinals over 8.5 wins (+103)

2019, Kingsbury’s Cardinals won five games. In 2020, they won eight. 2021, they won 11. In three consecutive seasons, the Murray-led Cardinals have yet to perform worse than they did in the previous year.

When the Cardinals went on their 7-0 run to start the season, they had an average margin of victory of 15 points, beating the Tennessee Titans by 25 and the eventual Super Bowl champs by 17. Yes, this team lost leading receiver Kirk and former all-pro Jones. Yet, even without DeAndre Hopkins for a third of the season, it’s still a team with a ton of firepower and upside.

At plus money, I’ll take the Cardinals to finish with more than 8.5 wins, and I won’t look back. Disagree with me? Let me know on Twitter, @giantsportsball.
