Our fourth and final Major of the 2022 season is upon us as The Open Championship will get underway on Thursday, July 14. This year, The Open Championship returns to the Old Course at St Andrews for the first time since 2015.

Below, we will dissect Dustin Johnson’s profile and give a prediction for how he will fare this week.

Dustin Johnson Open Championship History

This week will be Dustin Johnson’s 13th Open Championship appearance and third time playing the Old Course at St Andrews. Johnson has found a ton of success at the Open Championship as he has made the cut in nine of his 12 appearances (75%) with four top-10 finishes (33%).

In his two appearances at St Andrews, Johnson made the cut and finished 14th in 2010.

Dustin Johnson Recent Form

There will be a lot of attention on Johnson this week as he returns for another Major following his departure to the LIV Golf Tour. Before jumping ship, Johnson struggled on the PGA Tour as he had missed the cut in two of his last four events and failed to crack the top 20 in any of them.

In my opinion, his results on LIV do not matter here as the competition is entirely different, and they only play for three days.

Dustin Johnson Open Championship Predictions

This tournament will certainly be a considerable change of pace for Johnson compared to what he has been playing on the LIV Golf Tour, but his experience should compensate for that. In his three major championship appearances in 2022, Johnson has made the cut in two of them, including his T12 finish at the Masters.

I predict that Johnson will make the cut this week but fail to make the extra leap and find himself at the top of the leaderboard. I expect him to finish somewhere between 25th and 40th place.
