British Open 2022: Will Zalatoris Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

Our fourth and final Major of the 2022 season is upon us as The Open Championship will get underway on Thursday, July 14. This year, The Open Championship returns to the Old Course at St Andrews for the first time since 2015.

Below, we will dissect the profile of Will Zalatoris and give out a prediction for how he will fare this week:

Will Zalatoris Stats to Know

  • Best Odds to Win: +2500 (via DraftKings)
  • World Ranking: 13
  • Best Open Championship Finish: N/A (He W/D in the first round in 2021)
  • Last Four Open Championship Finishes: N/A
  • Last Four Tournament Finishes: Cut, T2, T5, Cut

Will Zalatoris Open Championship History

This week will be Zalatoris’s second Open Championship appearance and first time playing the Old Course at St Andrews. In his first appearance in 2021, Zalatoris was doing well after a first-round 69. However, he withdrew before the start of the second round due to an injury.

Will Zalatoris Recent Form

Zalatoris enters this week in his usual form as he has made the cut in two of his last four tournaments, with both of those made cuts resulting in top-five finishes. This trend is common for Zalatoris as he always seems to either miss the cut or finish inside the top-five, seldom finding himself between those two extremes.

Last weekend, Zalatoris missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open. It has been quite the roller coaster for Zalatoris recently as he has made the cut in just five of his last eight tournaments, but all five of those made-cuts resulted in a top-10 finish.

Will Zalatoris Open Championship Predictions

At just 25 years old, Zalatoris has already established himself as one of the world’s best golfers. The sky is the limit for the California native, and I expect yet another dominant Major Championship outing.

Excluding his withdrawal from the Open Championship in 2021, Zalatoris has finished inside the top-10 in each of his last five Major Championship appearances. Iron play will be essential at the Old Course, and Zalatoris ranks first on Tour in SG Tee to Green and first in SG Approach the Green.

One of the best iron players in the world, Zalatoris will need his putter to finish the job for him this weekend and finally earn that first Major victory. I predict Zalatoris will finish inside the top five, and I will be rooting for him to finally grab that victory.
