The Steelers started the season 0-3, and it seemed like the sky was falling in Pittsburgh. Adjustments were made, and the team responded by going 3-1 over their last four games. The defense has looked solid over that span, while the offense has been able to get the job done with strong efforts from running back James Conner. 

Meanwhile, the Colts have been playing some pretty good football as well. Winners of three straight, Indianapolis has apparently found their rhythm defensively. They limited Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to just 13 points several weeks ago, and they’ll look to feast on the inconsistencies of backup quarterback Mason Rudolph on Sunday.

Overview

The biggest factor heading into this game revolves around the health of Steelers running back James Conner. He’s currently questionable with a shoulder injury, and backup running back Benny Snell has been ruled out. Running back Jaylen Samuels is on track to play after missing Monday’s tilt with the Dolphins, but a potential lack of depth at this critical position could prove worrisome if Conner doesn’t play. 

On the other side, T.Y. Hilton is questionable with a calf injury. This isn’t anything to get overly concerned about, as Hilton still has a reasonable chance to suit up on Sunday. Still, it’s something we’ll need to monitor as we move closer to the game. The loss of a playmaker on either side could be the difference in this tightly-contested game.

Editor’s Note: T.Y. Hilton has since been ruled out for Sunday’s game.

I rarely look to these spread/total parlays, but this one has a pretty good chance to hit. As mentioned earlier, both defenses are playing great at the moment, and I believe that will continue on Sunday. The Steelers are dealing with injuries to their skill positions, which could help the Colts pull through in a low-scoring battle. 

Bottom Line

I believe the Colts are the more resilient team at this stage in the season. They haven’t been phased by playing on the road this season, picking up gutsy victories over the Titans and Chiefs in their last two contests away from home. They should get another on Sunday.
