MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Odds & Picks: Thursday (6/19)

Welcome back to another day of sports betting as the MLB season continues and we can make some No Runs First Inning (NRFI) picks & bets. NRFI is a popular betting market where gamblers wager on whether the first inning of an MLB game will end with zero runs scored by either team. Pretty simple.

NRFI bets are the best because they're quick - sometimes you'll know the outcome within minutes. NRFI bets can provide an edge over other markets if you’ve done your research. I'm here to help provide that edge. As always, shop around for the best odds and be on the lookout for lineup announcements, which can change a lot.

Let's dive into a few games.

Thursday's Best MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Picks

Last Time: 2-0 | Season: 14-10 | Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees

Starting Pitchers: Tyler Anderson vs. Carlos Rodon

This game has an early start time, so I'm going to keep this one short in case you get to the article late. Los Angeles is in New York for an early riser as they take on the Yankees. Keeping it simple, it's not going to be the Angels. Carlos Rodon has handled the Angels well and has been lights out early in games. He has a 1.20 ERA in the first inning, allowing just two earned runs in 15 starts with a .196 opponents batting average and a .541 OPS. Rodon is also much better at home with a .155 batting average against at Yankee Stadium.

If you're going to bet a team to score early, it's the Yankees. They have the clear MVP favorite batting second with Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger sandwiching him. Tyler Anderson has been awful on the road with a 6.31 ERA and is even worse in the first inning with a 9.00 ERA in the opening frame across his 14 starts. Goldschmidt has seen Anderson well and Aaron Judge has been nuclear. Anderson has reverse splits against lefties. This is lining up for the Yankees to get the game going early, maybe even bet them to get a pair of runs right away.

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves

Starting Pitchers: Clay Holmes vs. Spencer Strider

What a great matchup we have between divisional rivals as the Mets travel to Atlanta to face the Braves. While the Braves aren't exactly the powerhouse they've been in previous years, they still have a clear fighting chance to make the playoffs at 37% via FanGraphs.

Clay Holmes takes the bump for the Mets, and I don't think he's letting up a run early on. In his 14 starts, he's been solid with a 1.93 ERA, allowing just three runs in the opening frame. Spencer Strider hasn't been as hot with a 6.00 first-inning ERA. He also hasn't had the best history against this Mets lineup.

Brandon Nimmo should bat second, and he's .500 off Strider in 16 career at-bats with a whopping 1.641 OPS. Not great for fading runs. Francisco Lindor is batting .375 against him. If it gets to Pete Alonso, he's homered and doubled off Strider. Once again, I am betting specifically here. I don't expect the Braves to score, but the Mets are a different story. I'm taking the Mets straight up.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Starting Pitchers: Ryne Nelson vs. Kevin Gausman

This is an interesting matchup with near-even odds for NRFI and Yes Runs First Inning (YRFI). Again, shop around because nothing is even, especially if you want to get more specific with the props you're betting on.

Ryne Nelson has struggled with early run limitation this season. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has homered off him while the rest of the top of the Blue Jays lineup has seen him well in their limited appearances. Nelson has also been awful on the road with a 7.50 ERA in his six starts away from Arizona.

On the other side, Kevin Gausman takes the bump for Toronto and goes against a solid Diamondbacks offense. Ketel Marte has seen Gausman 22 times, and the top of this Arizona offense is dangerous. I guess I'm a big fan of runs today.

    Play: YRFI (-120)
