MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (9/8)
It’s Friday in the MLB! That means we’ll get a full card of 15 games on the slate. The more games, the more opportunities.
Here are three player props to consider for tonight’s slate of MLB games:
Friday’s Best MLB Player Props

Jake Burger Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)
The Marlins are depleted offensively after losing Jorge Soler to the injured list. Jake Burger will need to continue to perform at a high level while Miami is in this NL playoff race.
Burger has smashed a .286 ISO and wOBA of .426 against his last 22 lefties.
He’ll take on Cristopher Sanchez of the Phillies, who has allowed a .230 ISO and wOBA of .370 to his last 77 righties. This season, Sanchez has also allowed a .214 ISO and wOBA of .320 to 245 righties. Furthermore, Sanchez has only struck out 21.2% of righties this season. In the last month, that rate is down to 19.5%.
Take Burger to earn at least two total bases in tonight’s game.
Daulton Varsho Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135)
The Royals will start tonight’s game with Collin Snider. But it’ll likely be a bullpen game for the Royals tonight.
Varsho has smacked a .196 ISO and woBA of .320 against his last 66 righties. He’ll likely face righties throughout the game tonight. Varsho has also struck out under 20% of the time, hitting over 39% of fly balls and line drives over the last month. Varsho smacked 53.5% of hard contact against righties in the previous 30 days.
Toronto’s offense should have a field day tonight, and Varsho should be right in the middle of it.
Anthony Santander Over 1.5 Total Bases (-110)
Any lefty in the Orioles lineup will do. I’ll back Anthony Santander, who has hit a .365 ISO and wOBA of .439 over the last month against righties. Santander has only struck out 17.4% of the time against lefties in the previous month.
He’s also hit over 31% of fly balls and line drives while limiting ground balls to 33.3% against righties in the last 30 days. The power slugger has smacked 54.9% of hard contact against righties in that time frame.
He’ll take on Tanner Houck of the Red Sox. The right-handed pitcher has allowed a .435 ISO and wOBA of .558 to his last 29 lefties. He’s also earned 17.2% of strikeouts in that time and allowed 66.7% of hard contact from lefties. Houck isn’t earning many whiffs against lefties and has earned below 11% of swinging strikes.
He’s also allowed a 16.7% barrel percentage to lefties and has given up a .438 BABIP to lefties in the last month. Meanwhile, Santander has hit an 11.8% barrel percentage but only has a .273 BABIP. With Santander’s numbers, you’d have to expect his BABIP to increase with the hard contact and line drives he’s hitting against righties.
Take Santander to earn at least two total bases tonight.
