NFL Preseason Best Bets

Titans vs. Bears

Past precedent suggests some of Chicago's starters could see the field Saturday, and that will be the case with their starting quarterback. Justin Fields played three series in last year's preseason opener and could see a similar workload as the offense works in some new starters at the skill positions and offensive line. Meanwhile, Ryan Tannehill did not play in Tennessee's preseason opener last year. I'd imagine the Titans use the preseason opener to give young QBs Will Levis and Malik Willis some much-needed reps. Chicago's quarterback depth beyond Fields is far more experienced, with PJ Walker and Nathan Peterman likely coming in after Fields. While I lean toward Chicago on the side, my preferred bet is the over, as the end of this game could feature mobile QBs against pretty thin defensive units.

MLB Best Bets

San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks

Rich Hill made his Padres debut last week, and to put it nicely, it wasn't great. The Dodgers lit him up like a Christmas tree. Hill allowed six runs on four hits in three innings of work. Today, Hill has a chance to redeem himself and has a little bit of a better matchup.

Like most of us, I am trying to figure out what happened to the Arizona Diamondbacks during the All-Star break. Since the Midseason Classic, Arizona has lost 20 out of 25 games and is on a current 9-game losing streak.

Despite Rich Hill's struggles this season, he should be able to get out of the first inning without too much damage. Since the All-Star break, the Snakes have only scored eight first-inning runs, marking the 4th lowest in the MLB.

Not only has Arizona struggled to score in the first, but so have the Padres. As a team, the Padres are hitting .170 in the first inning, the lowest in the MLB. Their 11 first-inning runs scored also puts them in the bottom third of the league since the season's halfway point. On top of all of that, they have to face Zac Gallen at home.

Gallen has been nearly perfect at home this season, posting a 9-1 record with a 1.96 ERA. The first time through the lineup, opponents are hitting a measly .212, and the Diamondbacks' ace has only allowed a run in the first inning once in 11 home starts.

WNBA Best Bets

Atlanta Dream at Los Angeles Sparks

The Sparks have improved throughout the season, and they are starting to win more games. That makes this one game harder to read than the other games this week. Bettors will want to lower the number of units that they bet. 

The betting value goes to the Dream tonight. They are underdogs, but they have beaten the Sparks both times this year by eleven points or more. That consistency is what bettors need to look for in long seasons like the WNBA. Until the Sparks prove they can beat the Dream, the Dream have the betting value.
