Last Sunday, we were able to eclipse the 30-win mark on the season, as both Sandy Alcantara and Mookie Betts did us right with their prop lines. It was a bit disappointing to lose on a Shohei Ohtani line of all things, but hey, sometimes that's how the cards fall. We have a brand new weekend to work with on PrizePicks, and the action will start today with a usual Saturday 15-game slate (plus one makeup doubleheader). Let's jump right in with some picks and start the weekend off with a bang.
Overall record: 31-29-3

Saturday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
The NL Cy Young race is heating up, and Zac Gallen remains in the thick of it midway through August. The 28-year-old fireballer is 2-2-1 on the over for his strikeout prop line over his past five appearances. On the season, Gallen currently sits at 11-5 with a 3.37 ERA and 157:31 K:BB ratio across 25 starts.

The San Diego Padres have been a disappointment all season long, and they are just 4-6 over their last ten games. On the season, they rank 10th in the MLB in team hitter strikeouts per game, but they are eighth worst over the past three showings, punching out on average 9.67 times.
Gallen is a consistent strikeout thrower, and despite the low prop line for Saturday, he has still averaged north of six punchouts per game over his last five showings. He is also coming off of four straight strong performances in which he lasted at least six innings, and he compiled eight strikeouts in two of those. He has a great chance to make it three of the last five on Saturday.
Over the first four months of the 2023 MLB season, Julio Rodriguez was batting just .233 with 13 homers and 28 total extra-base hits. Since the calendar flipped to July, his average has jumped to .317 with six longballs and 17 XBHs. In layman's terms, he has been red-hot over the past 40 days. That includes five multi-hit performances over his past six showings.
The young superstar has been rolling, and the Mariners have been the hottest team in baseball with an 8-1 record in August so far, much of that due to Rodriguez's production. Per usual, on Saturday he will lead off for Seattle against the Orioles and SP Cole Irvin's enticing 5.44 ERA. Rodriguez's batting average is just about 30 points higher against lefties this season, and he does have a hit off of Irvin in three career matchups to this point. He should be able to add to that total on Saturday night.
In this week's episode of exclusively betting on PrizePicks "Overs," we will conclude with rookie superstar Corbin Carroll crossing home plate at least once on Saturday night. Carroll has struggled so far in August, but is still the easy frontrunner for NL ROY and remains at the top of the Arizona lineup.
Despite the recent skid, Carroll has still managed to score a run in three of his last five games played, and the opportunity to do so again on Saturday is clearly apparent. The Diamondbacks are in the midst of a brutal stretch overall, as they have lost their last nine straight and are in desperation mode for a win.
Luckily for Carroll and company, they will square off with 43-year-old Rich Hill and his season-long 5.09 ERA on Saturday night. Hill has not been good at all lately and is coming off a horrendous appearance against the Dodgers in which he allowed six earned runs across just three innings. If there is any pitcher to help get both Carroll and the Diamondbacks back on track, it's going to be Hill. Carroll has as good a chance as anyone at scoring at least one run against the Padres later this evening.
