MLB Best Bets
Chicago White Sox (+220) at Texas Rangers (-270) | O/U 9 (-104/-118)
Max Scherzer will make his Texas debut as the Rangers have gone all in for this season. Mad Max has been lucid so far this year, and he's seeing a statcast-era (starting in 2015) career-worst year in strikeout percentage, barrel percentage, and exit velocity. He still leads with his fastball, but it's lost speed and movement, and he went from a 13-run value on the pitch last season to four this year.
Touki Toussaint will get back-to-back starts for just the second time this season and the first in almost a month. He's changed his approach this year by making the curveball his lead pitch, and he's done well with it, especially in Chicago with a 3.34 ERA. He's already seen the Rangers previously this season and went five scoreless innings.
I'm still heavily in favor of Scherzer having a strong debut in Arlington.
Pick: Rangers -1.5 (-126)

NFL Hall of Fame Game Best Bets
New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns
All I have to say is under, under, under. The NFL Hall of Fame Game is always highly anticipated because it's the first time we get to see live, actual football since February. And then the game starts, and it turns out to be one of the ugliest games of the preseason. Hardly any starters play in this bonus preseason game, and if they do, it's for a drive at most. Sportsbooks have wised up to this, which explains the insanely low total by NFL standards. But keep in mind that the last 10 Hall of Fame games have averaged 29.3 points, and the under has gone 5-2 in the last seven editions. As for a side, I lean Jets +1.5, as we could see a motivated Zach Wilson start the game at quarterback and last year's preseason hero Chris Streveler take over later on. The Jets should hold the QB depth advantage over Cleveland, who will likely use Joshua Dobbs, rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson and perhaps Kellen Mond under center.
Picks: Under 33 / Jets +1.5
TBT Best Bets
Team Heartfire vs. Bleed Green
We've made it to The Basketball Tournament Finals. Heartfire escaped a dangerous Herd That team to earn a Championship appearance. They don't have a go-to player on the offensive end. Instead, they've got seven players averaging at least five points per game. Still, Tevin Mack has been incredible for Heartfire. He's scored 12.2 points per game and has a +64 on the court through five games. This team has reliable depth; no player has played more than 24 minutes per game. That's helped Heartfire perform at a higher level. Meanwhile, they'll face Bleed Green after Jordan Stevens nailed the buzzer-beater three to knock off Friday Beers. Bleed Green doesn't have the depth that Heartfire has. However, they've got a six-man rotation dominating the entire tournament. I'll back Bleed Green to finish the job tonight.
Pick: Bleed Green +2.5 (-115)
WNBA Best Bets
Atlanta Dream vs. Phoenix Mercury
The Phoenix Mercury is back to losing. They've lost four straight games and seven of their last ten. To make matters worse, the Mercury have lost three of their last four by double-digits. Phoenix lost by one point on the road against Indiana in its most recent matchup. The Mercury played without Brittney Griner in that game and won't have her available for tonight's game, either, due to a mental health break.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream have won just two of their last five games. However, Atlanta's last three losses came against the Aces, Liberty, and Sun, so we'll cut them some slack.
The Dream defeated the Mercury earlier this year, 78-65, and are now 7.5-point favorites on the road tonight. This will be the second of three games between the two teams. In that first matchup, the Dream shot over 46% from the field while the Mercury shot 35.8%.
Atlanta was dominant from downtown, and Phoenix wasn't, which will likely be the case in tonight's game as well. The Mercury will be challenged on the glass and won't have their leading scorer available.
Therefore, I'll take the Dream at -7.5.
Bet: Dream -7.5 (-110)
