UFC on ESPN Odds, Preview & Betting Guide: Caio Borralho vs. Armen Petrosyan (2022)

Following a week of high-profile and championship fights at UFC 276 down the road at the T-Mobile Arena, the UFC will return to its home at the UFC Apex for a night of up-and-comers at UFC on ESPN: dos Anjos vs. Fiziev. Just because the names are lesser-known doesn’t mean the fights will be any less exciting, as there is no shortage of great action on this card.

Let’s take a closer look at two relative newcomers to the UFC in the middleweight division, Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan, and see how things might shake out on Saturday at UFC Fight Night on ESPN.

Betting Profile: Caio Borralho (11-1-0)

Last Five Fights (W-W-W-W-W)

Joining the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series in September, Borralho has rattled off three straight wins since, all three decisive victories for the southpaw fighting Brazilian. In his most recent fight, the first official fight under the UFC banner (the first two in DWCS), Borralho dismantled Gadzhi Omargadzhiev for three rounds to pick up the unanimous decision win.

Coming into this fight, Borralho holds the edge across the board on the ground, accruing a takedown average of 1.96 per 15 minutes and an 80% takedown accuracy. Both of those vs. zero against his opponent, who has yet to have a fight go to the ground in the UFC.

Betting Profile: Armen Petrosyan (7-1-0)

Last Five Fights (W-W-W-L-W)

Petrosyan also entered the UFC via DWCS in October, going 2-0 in the time since. In his first fight under the UFC banner in February, Petrosyan defeated Gregory Rodrigues, a veteran fighter who is 3-1 in his time with the UFC, with his only loss coming against Petrosyan.

In this fight, Petrosyan has a sizeable edge in significant striking volume, landing 7.56 per minute vs. just 3.66 from Borralho. While he trails slightly in accuracy, his volume and power are something Borralho has yet to see in his time in the octagon.

Bottom Line

Standing at 6’3″, it’s also worth noting that Petrosyan will have a sizeable advantage over the smaller (5’10”) Borralho, making his jab even that much more lethal when it connects. With seven of his eight professional fights thus far going by way of KO/TKO, Petrosyan will undoubtedly be looking for a similar result. While I’m not sure he gets it, I think the wrong fighter is favored here when you look at his total body of work. I am taking the underdog in this c0-main event to finish the job.
