United States vs. South Sudan
South Sudan is one of the most impressive basketball teams in the Olympics. They’re well-coached and play very well together. Carlik Jones is a walking triple-double threat for this team. He’s also got plenty of other exciting players around him, including Wenyen Gabriel and JT Thor.
Again, South Sudan added a big win against Puerto Rico and has some confidence heading into this game after earning a one-point loss against the USA during the exhibition matchups. South Sudan had a 14-point lead at halftime against the U.S. but lost that lead very quickly in the third quarter after Team USA won that quarter by 19.
Yet, South Sudan had a chance to win the game in the final possession and missed a couple of layups around the rim.
The USA was still trying different things and figuring out lineups.
After a dominating win over Serbia and Kevin Durant’s return, expect a better performance from the USA moving forward. Just don’t expect a 30-point blowout. South Sudan is too connected as a group to lose by 30.
