The WNBA season continues as we look to the All-Star break on the horizon. There isn't a better league to bet on and I'll continue to come to ya every Saturday with the best bets for the day. There are three games on this slate with a lot to consider. The highlight of course is Minnesota hosting the Liberty on ABC but you also have Mercury-Aces and Fire-Dream.
We only ended up having one bet last time with a surprise injury but it still cashed. Let's continue today with the best bets on today's Saturday, July 18th slate.
Saturday’s Best Bets and Predictions
Last Time: 1-0 | Season: 12-11 | Odds courtesy of BetMGM
New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever
Starting off with the game of the day, the New York Liberty travel to Indiana as the Fever host. Indiana sits around a 1.5-point underdog with the total hovering around 176.5 points. This should be must watch TV.
After an insane 45 point outing by Catilin Clark, the Fever are coming off a 110-107 victory over the Seattle Storm yesterday. In their last seven games, the Fever are 5-2 with the best offense in the league. New York, meanwhile, appears to be going in the exact opposite direction. We discussed this last time but they have been hit with the injury bug and despite a bit better look tonight, they still own just the seventh best offense and 10th ranked defense over their last seven games, 10th in net rating.
This line is simply not correct for how these two teams are playing right now. The Fever could be the hottest team in the country and you may argue that yesterday could take some wind out of their sails after leaving it all on the court, but I'd rather a home team who has played well than another that has lost three straight and is faltering. The wrong team is favored here.
Pick: Fever Moneyline (+110)
Washington Mystics vs. Golden State Valkyries
Another game tonight is the Washington Mystics traveling across the country to take on the Golden State Valkyries. The Valkyries are about 10 point favorites with a total around 147.5 points, a bit different than the 176.5 we saw earlier.
And it makes sense as to why. I use the seven game sample a lot and for Golden State it's hard to argue against their performance. They're 7-0 with the best net rating and top defense by a mile. Surprisingly though, Washington's is close behind in second during that period as well. What makes it interesting is that neither team has a top-half ranked offense with the Mystics as the basement in 15th over that same time frame. The Mystics' defense still holds serve on the road this year, ranking third in 12 such games so I trust them to show out tonight. The spread feels about right, but the total still has room to drop.
Pick: Under 147.5 Points (-110)
