2022 NFL Week 1 Odds and Schedule: Colts Open as Biggest Favorite

After a couple of weeks of slowly leaking matchups one at a time, the NFL finally announced the complete schedule for the 2022 NFL Season on Thursday, May 12. Shortly thereafter, sportsbooks started posting Week 1 Spread, Total, and Moneyline Odds. These odds will definitely change over the next few months, but bettors who can accurately project the directions of these teams may be able to get favorable odds for these September matchups in May.

Oddly enough, the Indianapolis Colts opened as the biggest favorite of Week 1. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Colts as a 7.5 point favorite over the Houston Texans for their Week 1 matchup in Houston.

What is Betting Against the Spread?
Betting “against the spread” refers to the act of choosing the winning team based on a numeric handicap placed on the team that oddsmakers believe is superior, rather than picking the outright winner. For example, if the Packers face the Bears, and oddsmakers set the spread at Packers -6.5, you would need Green Bay to win by 7 or more points in order to cash your Packers bet.
