Today’s 2024 NBA Summer League Best Bets
Here are our top picks for today’s 2024 NBA Summer League action.
Clippers vs. Grizzlies
The Clippers and Grizzlies will play in one of the two semifinal matchups in the Summer League. Both teams are 4-0 heading into today's action. Los Angeles has earned four consecutive wins by nine or more points, while the Grizzlies have added double-digit wins in three of four games. On paper, the Clippers were never expected to be this good. But they've been getting healthy contributions from many different players. They've also toyed around with various lineups throughout the Summer League and haven't skipped a beat. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have shut down top rookie Zach Edey for the remainder of the Summer League. He'll join Cam Spencer (calf) on the bench for tonight's game. Memphis still has a lot of veteran talent, but losing Edey and Spencer certainly won't be beneficial. I'll back the Clippers at +5.5 (-120).
Pick: Clippers +5.5 (-110)

Magic vs. Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have won three of their four Summer League games. But it still wasn't enough to land a semifinal spot in the Summer League in Las Vegas. Minnesota's only loss came to the Philadelphia 76ers, 92-90. They've been a competitive bunch led by Leonard Miller. Miller scored 21 points and hauled in 11 rebounds with five assists in 31 minutes against the Rockets last time out. On the other hand, the Magic have lost two consecutive games, but they have been competitive in each. Jay Huff continues to play well in the center spot, and Theo Maledon scored 20 points off the bench in only 24 minutes. I'd expect another competitive game that goes over the total.
Pick: OVER 180.5 (-110)
- Jason Radowitz
Warriors vs. Heat
The second of the Las Vegas Summer League semifinals will pit the Warriors against the Heat. The Warriors were one of the favorites coming into this tournament with Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski on the roster. They got some early action with the team, but they didn’t play on Friday, and their Summer League may be over. Even if they do play, Miami has been a force this last week and a half. Led by rookies Ke’lal Ware and Pelle Larson the Heat have blown out all of their competition with a mix of strong offensive output and great defense. Cole Swider and Josh Christopher have also contributed as they did on Friday, scoring 21 and 17, respectively. This line implies to me that Jackson-Davis and Podziemski may play for a chance at Summer League glory, but Miami is still too good either way. I’m backing the Heat Culture to advance to the Championship game.
Pick: Heat -3.5 (-110)

76ers vs. Celtics
If it weren't for an earlier two-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the Philadelphia 76ers would still be in line for a potential Summer League Championship. Ricky Council IV continues to be the main threat to the 76ers. But Philadelphia could ultimately go at least eight deep with its roster. David Jones, Judah Mintz, and Keve Aluma scored double-digits off the bench in the win against the Spurs. Conversely, the Celtics lost 101-90 to the Dallas Mavericks. Boston only played an eight-man rotation but couldn't get past a winless Dallas team heading into the game. The defense allowed 101 points, more than 50% from the field and 40.7% from deep. I'll take the 76ers at -3.5 (-115).
Pick: 76ers -3.5 (-110)

Hornets vs. Nets
The Hornets have been among the best defenses in the NBA Summer League. No team has scored more than most, 90 points against the Hornets, and two teams have failed even to reach 70. Matt Morgan dropped 36 points on a perfect 11-for-11 from the field for Charlotte off the bench against Portland in the last game. It was an unbelievable performance, but don't expect that to continue in today's game. Meanwhile, the Nets are led by Jalen Wilson, who continues to put up ridiculous stats. However, the rest of the team has slowed down. Dariq Whitehead went 0-for-8 from the field in 15 minutes against the Knicks and was given rest against Orlando next time out. I'd love to see a Morgan vs. Wilson show. But if that happens, this game will still likely go Under.
Pick: UNDER 175.5 (-110)
- Jason Radowitz
Raptors vs. Spurs
After a promising 2-0 start in Vegas, the Raptors fell apart in the last two games, dropping a close one to Utah before getting demolished by Miami. Ja’Kobe Walter was the only player who stood out in a positive light following the loss to the Heat with 16 points. Otherwise, there was little evidence that the Raptors had any interest in playing hard on either end of the court. After a dismal showing in the California Classic, San Antonio has been a different team in Vegas. They’ve even played well after losing Stephon Castle to an injury after the first game. The Spurs suffered their first loss in Vegas their last time out vs. the Philadelphia 76ers, 96-80. This contest is a game the Spurs should win, but without a standout player on offense, it is hard to trust them to do so. However, Toronto is also lacking on the offensive end of the court.
Pick: UNDER 172.5 (-110)
- Travis Pulver
Pistons vs. Jazz
While Detroit has lacked in any kind of regular season success over the last half-decade, they’ve shown this week in Las Vegas that there may soon be a light at the end of the tunnel. Rookie Ron Holland has been exceptional in these games averaging 17.3 PPG and 7.3 RPG. He’s shown flashes of the talent that many scouts have been high on him for coming out of the G-League Ignite. In addition, second-year guard Marcus Sasser has picked up where he left off last summer and is getting buckets in Vegas. For Utah, they came in as the presumptive favorites for this tournament and find themselves 2-2 in the consolation games. They were blown out in their last game against the Clippers although Isaiah Collier scored 20 and Max Abmas included his own 19 off the bench. Both of these teams only have the pride to play for, but for many of these players, it’s the last chance they have to show some NBA scouts they belong on two-way contracts or NBA rosters. There is still plenty of good scoring on both of these teams, and this game could end up a high-scoring affair.
Pick: OVER 173.5 (-110)
- Ryan Rodeman
Rockets vs. Trail Blazers
Houston got off to a strong start in Vegas, winning their first two games before dropping one to Detroit and Minnesota. Not playing defense led to a massive hole after the first (29-16), but then the Rockets battled back and got within three heading into the fourth before falling apart. After getting off to a 2-1 start in Vegas, Portland fell to 2-2 after a dismal outing vs. Charlotte. Offensively, they couldn’t hit a shot (32.9% on the night) and were dreadful from three-point range (6-41, 14.6%), but they were just as bad defensively, allowing the Hornets to shoot 43.5% from the floor and 46.2% from three-point range. Neither team has played great defense in Vegas, but they also don’t have the offensive firepower to take advantage.
Pick: UNDER 174.5 (-110)
