2024 NCAA Tournament Player Props Bet Odds & Picks: Sweet 16 (Friday)

Is there a better combination than prop betting and March Madness? When it hits “The Big Dance,” teams have a quick turnaround and little knowledge of their opponent compared to the extended conference play they just experienced. This means they sit back on their identity, offering predictable prop betting for March.

It hasn't been the hottest tournament so far, but that only means we have one direction to go. Historically, College Basketball has been my best sport to bet on, so it's only a matter of time before it all comes together.

Friday’s Best Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament Prop Bets

DJ Horne 18+ Alt Points (+115)

I guess there's something in the air this tournament with ACC teams and I'm not going to doubt that tonight, especially against Marquette. It may seem like a lot, but DJ Horne is capable of going off at any point. He scored 29 in the ACC Championship game against North Carolina and can very well do the same tonight against a Marquette team that allows a high percentage of perimeter looks.

Horne has taken almost half his shots from beyond the arc this season, and as a 40% shooter, it adds up that he could have a breakout game. Especially if Shaka Smart tries to limit DJ Burns down low - which would be a good idea - Horne should clear 18 with kick outs and transition scoring by the Wolfpack.

Braden Smith Over 12.5 Points (-110)

It's always tempting to look at Purdue and be immediately drawn to Zach Edey. However, the Boilermakers are the single-best three-point shooting team in the country. I will bank on that, combined with Gonzaga's 172nd three-point defense, for plenty of perimeter looks to fall for Smith tonight. It's tempting to take Fletcher Loyer, but I simply think Braden Smith will have the most opportunity and is an equal shooter. Edey has improved his passing, and Gonzaga's interior defense is solid. In a pace-up spot, with a team that will have a lot of open looks from deep, I'm quite comfortable taking Smith's points here.

Baylor Scheierman 20+ Alt Points (+135)

This is definitely the most risky play of tonight, but again, it comes down to opportunity. The South Dakota State transfer takes nearly 60% of his shots from beyond the arc, where Tennessee allows opponents to score a third of their points, the 74th-highest clip in the nation. Taking on the Volunteers down low is not advisable, and Creighton won't do that. This is a game where I would take alternates either way because the Bluejays will be slinging threes all game. Scheierman can go 2-11 or 6-10, both are well within reason. Still, I'm taking the latter because I trust him to drain shots in clutch time.
