2025 Mexico Open at VidantaWorld Longshot Odds, Picks, & Predictions

132 golfers are set to compete during the 2025 Mexico Open at VidantaWorld in Vallarta, Mexico. Teeing off on Thursday morning, Akshay Bhatia is the outright winner betting favorite at +1400, which is a number we rarely see for a pre-event favorite.

Due to the lack of big names in this field, Bhatia, who previously posted a solo fourth-place finish during Tony Finau’s record-setting win in 2023, will return to attempt recording his third career win on the PGA Tour. Last year’s winner, Jake Knapp, is currently +4000 to defend his title following a pair of wins he achieved during his 2024 rookie campaign.

In an event with the favorite at such long odds, we may be due to finally target an outright winner before Round 1 at a relatively easy course like VidantaWorld. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly PGA Tour analysis.

2025 Mexico Open at VidantaWorld: Best Longshot Bets

These plays are .25u, or 0.25% of your betting bankroll. All odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.

Justin Lower (+7000)

Justin Lower went T3 at this event in 2024, going 5-under-par on Friday and Saturday, before finishing -3-under-par to climb into a top-five finish. Lower has a top-ten finish in 2025 at La Quinta during The American Express, while ranking 36th strokes gained: approach and 33rd strokes gained: putting.

Lower’s biggest appeal at 70-1 is ranking second in proximity. This well bode well for him at VidantaWorld, with huge greens and wide fairways making it even easier for him to dial in with his irons. His approach shots and putting are good enough to propel Lower into my favorite longshot golfer in the outright winner betting market at 70-1 odds.

Let’s place a quarter unit on Lower to grab close to 20 units of profit if the 35-year-old American can replicate his performance from last year, while leaning into his irons and putter at VidantaWorld.

Chris Gotterup  (+8000)

A withdrawal after going 2-under-par in Round 1 kept us from finding out whether Chris Gotterup would contend at the 2024 Mexico Open. Gotterup is back for his second appearance at VidantaWorld. He’s won at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic and has a top-25 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open played at Torrey Pines in late January.

We haven’t seen Gotterup in action since the WM Phoenix Open, so he’s going to have plenty of rest and preparation time for VidantaWorld. Ranked 27th in driving distance, 14th finding greens in regulation (74 percent), and 11th in sand save rate, there’s enough here with Gotterup to justify a quarter unit wager at 80-1 odds in the outright winner betting market.
