The PGA Tour returns to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the latest Signature Event this week at the 2026 Truist Championship. Leading the field as the outright betting favorite, due to his immense success at this course, is Rory McIlroy at +500 odds.
McIlroy has four wins at Quail Hollow Club. Now, he’s back in action following his second straight win at the Masters. Cameron Young (+950), Xander Schauffele (+1000), Matt Fitzpatrick (+1500), and Ludvig Åberg (+1600) are other short betting favorites inside of 20-1.
Quail Hollow is a lengthy par 71 that demands tee-to-green precision. This field of 72 golfers won’t have to worry about making the cut and should be familiar with the overseeded Bermudagrass. Water hazards abound, especially on the closing stretch from Holes 16-18, dubbed “The Green Mile”.
In this 2026 Truist Championship preview, I’m looking at a handful of golfers with longshot odds who can make a run up the leaderboard and contend for the outright win on Sunday. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free picks and analysis throughout the PGA Tour season.

Alex Fitzpatrick (+10000)
We’ve only seen Alex Fitzpatrick in two events on the PGA Tour, but he’s been dynamic in both outings. With the help of his red-hot sibling, Matt Fitzpatrick, he earned his PGA Tour card with a win at the 2026 Zurich Classic.
Last week, Alex Fitzpatrick went on to card a T9 finish at a difficult course on Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster. He’s playing with a ton of momentum and has few flaws in his game. Fitzpatrick also carded an outright win on the DP World Tour in March.
At 100-1, let’s start our longshot wagers with a quarter unit (0.25) on Alex Fitzpatrick to post an outright win at Quail Hollow.
Samuel Stevens (+10000)
Sam Stevens has been playing solid golf lately, turning in a top 20 finish at the Cadillac Championship and a solo fifth-place finish at the Houston Open in March. He’ll return to Quail Hollow, where Stevens placed a pedestrian T47 in 2023.
Notable metrics for Stevens in 2026 include 25th in SG: Off-the-Tee, including 18th in total driving, and 19th for greens in regulation hit at 69.2 percent. He’s also 39th in putting average, leading to 31st in scoring average, 19th in birdie average, and 14th in par 4 scoring.
Stevens has three runner-up finishes in his career. While still seeking his first win on the PGA Tour, he’s capable of moving up the leaderboard and draining birdies.
Stevens has enough talent to justify the outright winner price of 100-1.
Nick Taylor (+12500)
Nick Taylor seemingly always shows up at big events. The Canadian doesn’t have a win in 2026, although he’s coming off his first top 10 finish at the Cadillac Championship.
Taylor has five outright wins in his career. He’s also logged T8 and T15 finishes at Quail Hollow Club.
Currently, Taylor is ranked 24th in SG: Approach, 15th in proximity, and 23rd for scrambling. The driver and putter haven’t been cooperating well for Taylor this season, keeping him out of contention on most leaderboards.
Following his T9 finish at Trump National Doral on Sunday, let’s invest in Taylor to continue leaning on his approach shot accuracy to wind up with a chance to win at Quail Hollow this weekend. Bet on Taylor to win at +12500 odds.
