Saturday’s Best 2026 World Cup Picks & Predictions: Australia vs. Turkey
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Australia (+420) vs. Türkiye (-145) | Draw (+270) | O/U 2.5 (+100/-128)
Australia ranks 27th in the world, while Türkiye checks in 22nd. This should be a very even matchup between the Socceroos and the Ay-Yildizlar, or the Crescent Stars.
Surprisingly, Türkiye returns to the World Cup stage after a 24-year absence, so it will be hungry and aggressive, looking for a result right out of the gate. Australia heads in with a 5-1 win over Curacao in a FIFA Series tune-up, while edging Cameroon 1-0.
Australia has teen phenom Nestory Irankunda, who plays for Watford in England, as a player who should be front and center at his first World Cup. For Türkiye, Arda Güler of Real Madrid and Kenan Yildiz are ones to watch, while Hakan Çalhanoğlu of Inter Milan in Serie A is another bona fide option.
This could be one of the higher-scoring matchups in the first few days. Let’s take the over, and we’ll roll with Türkiye. From top to bottom, they might be more polished, a little deeper and more talented, especially on the world stage.
Picks: Türkiye Moneyline (-145) & Over 2.5 Goals (-128)
