The 2021-22 college football season officially came to an end Monday night in Indianapolis, with the Georgia Bulldogs getting their first National Championship in 40+ years. Moving into the offseason, we begin to look ahead at next year’s future market, and we’ll start with the 2022 Heisman Trophy odds.
Let’s take a closer look at where things lie as of today.
Caleb Williams +1000 at FoxBet
With USC’s top two quarterbacks entering the transfer portal, Jaxson Dart, as recently as this week, despite the QB-friendly hire of Lincoln Riley, something is afoot. What might that be? I believe it’s Caleb Williams incoming.
Riley’s quarterback at Oklahoma last season, Williams took over at the helm in Week 4 and still put up numbers. Through just seven games, he finished the season with 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns, throwing just four interceptions along the way.
Even if Williams were to not land at USC, he’s sure to land at a Power 5 powerhouse and is the #1 f
ree agent transfer portal attraction in the entire country. With his decision due in the coming weeks, Williams will likely enroll right away and have an entire spring to get to know the offense he lands on, which I’m sure will also be part of his decision in schools.
CJ Stroud +400 at FoxBet
While the odds are short for a future bet as far out as this one, it’s easy to see why as CJ Stroud returns to Ohio State after a monster redshirt freshman year. With much of the talent around him staying or being replaced by guys equally talented, Stroud should have all the weapons to be at the top of the Heisman board again come December.
Looking back on 2021, Stroud was inside the top five of quarterbacks in yards (4,435) and touchdowns (44) and should only improve with a full season (and offseason) under his belt in Columbus.
With a schedule that sets up more favorably than it did this year, including getting the Wolverines at home, look for Stroud to be amongst the finalists come trophy time.
