The Bears are reeling, as they have lost four straight games. Mitchell Trubisky and the offense continue to struggle, as the Chicago signal-caller went just 10-21 for 125 yards against a vulnerable Eaglesâ pass defense. This matchup against the Lions makes for another potential bounce-back spot for Trubisky, as the Lions rank 31st in passing yards allowed. Whether or not Trubisky can take advantage will go a long way in deciding this game.
The Lions have had their own problems lately, as they have dropped four of their past five. Outside of a 27-24 victory at Philadelphia, the Lions have been pretty miserable away from home. They tied the Cardinals 27-27 in Week 1, lost to the Packers, and fell 31-24 at Oakland last weekend. Something has to give in this battle of downtrodden NFC North teams, and thatâs why we have a relatively tight spread with two struggling clubs squaring off.

Overview
Take note that the weather is supposed to be chilly with a slight wind around 10 mph. That could impact a Detroit team that has no semblance of a rushing attack. The Lions are just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games played at Chicago, and they usually have problems at Soldier Field. Then again, the Bears have not been kind to bettors this season, going 0-4 ATS in their last four games. Is this a get-right spot for the Bears, or will they continue to underachieve?
Trends
- The Lions are 10-3-1 ATS against a team with a losing record.
- The Lions are 2-5 ATS in their last seven against the NFC North.
- The Bears are 8-1 ATS in their last nine against the NFC North.
- The under is 5-0 in the Bears last five against the NFC North.
Prop Bets
David Montgomery OVER 65 Rushing Yards
We are seeing Montgomery morph into a three-down running back for the Bears. Itâs clear Chicago wants to establish the run to take the pressure off Trubisky. They should be able to execute that strategy against a Lionsâ team that ranks bottom five in almost every metric of run defense. Iâm expecting Montgomery to push for 20 carries in this game, which should easily put him over 65 yards rushing.
Bottom Line
Even though they havenât looked good in recent games, I believe the Bears will pull this one out and cover. I donât believe the Lionsâ aerial attack will travel very well to the cold, windy conditions of Chicago. Thatâs a substantial advantage for the Bears, who should (finally) be able to move the ball against a generous defense.
