The NHL season is in full swing, and if you're looking to get some skin in the game, then you've come to the right place. The league is rolling out a four-game slate for us to bet on, and I have action on all four games. Let’s dive into my top four NHL picks & predictions for Wednesday, October 15th’s game Flames vs. Mammoth.
Wednesday's NHL Picks & Bets: Flames vs. Mammoth
(Odds courtesy of BetMGM)
Calgary Flames (+185) vs. Utah Mammoth (-225) | O/U 5.5 (-120/+100)
The night wraps up in Utah, as the Mammoth (1-2-0) return home to host the Flames (1-3-0). Calgary enters on the second night of a back-to-back, following a 4-2 home loss against Vegas on Tuesday. This NHL nightcap is slated for 9:30 p.m. ET from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT.
I'm going to be honest, I don't think the Mammoth should be -225 Moneyline favorites against anybody in this league. Sure, they have some up-and-coming talent and welcome in a bad Flames team that's on a back-to-back, but still, we're saying that they have an implied probability of 69.2% to win this game? I don't think so. At the same time, I have no interest in playing Calgary and their inept offense either.
How should we bet on this one? Let's ride with the under. During 5-on-5 play, the Flames are ranked 25th in goals per 60 minutes (1.82) and last in expected goals per 60 minutes (1.82). In the same categories, the Mammoth are 30th (1.28) and 23rd (2.13), respectively. Utah is just 1-for-10 (10%) on the man advantage this season, while Calgary is 2-for-14 (14.29%). The well-rested Mammoth should lock down the visitors in this one, ultimately leading to an under.
Bet: Under 5.5 Goals (+100)
