Friday's Best MLB Home Run Props & Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Colson Montgomery (+424)

When betting home run props, Colson Montgomery should be near the top of the list every day. The Chicago White Sox rookie has been on a power surge for two months now. He has 18 home runs over his last 42 games, including eight bombs in his past 16 games.

Opposing pitchers haven't totally adjusted to Montgomery's home run threat yet. Tonight, he'll face Cleveland Guardians starter Tanner Bibee. The right-hander has a shaky 4.69 ERA this season with 27 home runs allowed across his 28 starts. He's also struggled lately, with a 5.58 ERA over his past seven outings.

Those 27 homers allowed are tied for the fifth-most in baseball. Bibee's 1.51 HR/9 rate is also the fifth-worst among all qualified starting pitchers. Additionally, he's given up 10 homers over his past nine starts combined, with at least one allowed in eight of those.

It's a great matchup for the lefty-swinging Montgomery. He boasts a .601 slugging percentage and .916 OPS against right-handed pitchers this year. That includes 15 of his 18 home runs coming against righties thus far.

Hunter Goodman (+353)

The Colorado Rockies don't have much going for them these days, but Hunter Goodman is a lone bright spot. The catcher is having a breakout season, hitting .282 with 30 home runs and an .867 OPS. He's become one of the league's top hitting catchers, outside of Cal Raleigh.

Goodman's power isn't just reserved for the hitter-friendly Coors Field, either. He's hit 17 of his 30 homers on the road, with a .543 slugging percentage in away games. Goodman is also swinging it well right now. He's homered four times over the past eight games, and he boasts 11 bombs since the beginning of August.

Today, Goodman will face a homer-prone pitcher in San Diego Padres starter JP Sears. The left-hander has allowed 27 home runs over 25 starts this season. That includes nine homers allowed over his last seven starts. Sears is also sporting a rough 5.01 ERA this year.

Even on the road in a pitcher-friendly San Diego park, Goodman can take Sears deep tonight. The Rockies' catcher has a .529 slugging percentage vs. left-handed pitchers. Meanwhile, Sears' issues haven't gone anywhere since he moved from the Athletics to the Padres. In three starts with San Diego, he's coughed up four homers.
