Tuesday's Best MLB Picks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Philadelphia Phillies (-122) at Detroit Tigers (+102) | O/U 7.5 (-108/-112)

The Phillies are looking like a real contender this season. They have the most wins in the National League and are eight games up on the Braves in the East. They are getting contributions on both sides, allowing the fewest runs per game and scoring the second-most runs. They started this series on a high note, grabbing the 8-1 win thanks to Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm going a combined 7-for-10 with two home runs, accounting for all eight of the RBI. After a rough start in Colorado, followed by a short one against St. Louis, Ranger Suarez is back to his Cy Young form with a 1.96 ERA in his last three starts.

The Tigers had an excellent start to the season and looked like they could be competitive in the American League Central, but that doesn't seem true now. Since May 19, they are 13-19, their .228 batting average is 23rd, their .290 OBP is 25th and their 4.66 ERA is 26th. Tarik Skubal is a Cy Young contender in the American League, but he is losing ground in the race as he's struggled over his last two starts. Much of that has to do with facing some top-notch offense in the Braves and Astros, and he has a 6.92 ERA and a 1.008 OPS.

Now, he has to face one of the best offenses in the Phillies, which has scored 24 runs in its last three games.

Pick: Phillies Moneyline (-122)

New York Yankees (-148) at New York Mets (+114) | O/U 8.5 (-120/+100)

Rarely do you see the best teams in the league not go through bad stretches. The Yankees are in the middle of that right now; they have lost six of their last eight games, but even with that and losing the recent series to the Orioles, they still hold a two-game lead in the American League East. The injury bug is starting to peak; Anthony Rizzo and Clarke Schmidt were recently transferred to the 60-day injured list (IL), and Giancarlo Stanton is on IL with a hamstring issue. Gerrit Cole returned from the IL and was solid in his first start, going four innings and allowing two earned against Baltimore.

By the power of Grimace, the Mets have come alive over the last couple of weeks. They are coming into this series having won nine of their previous 11, including seven straight. They've been great on both sides in that span: Second with a .525 slugging percentage, third with a 3.15 ERA and they have a .292 batting average. David Peterson is another pitcher who missed the start of the season, so he's just getting back into it. He's had some mixed performances but comes in with a solid 3.97 ERA.

Both pitchers have fantastic histories against these lineups, with sub-.180 batting averages and over 28% strikeout rates. Lock that under in for this game at a plus Moneyline.

Pick: Under 8.5 Runs (+100)
