Tuesday's Best MLB Picks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

New York Yankees (-218) at Washington Nationals (+180) | O/U 9 (-105/-115)

The Yankees have the schedule in their favor to end the season. Not including this one, of their final nine series, five are against below .500 teams, and one is just a game above.

The bats have started to pick up, and last night's win didn't need the big ones like Aaron Judge or Juan Soto to do the damage. If the supporting cast can get it going, they could finish the year strong.

They have their ace on the mound, and Gerritt Cole has looked like it as he's gone at least five innings, allowing two or fewer in four straight, and has 12 straight scoreless innings.

The Nationals are the league's worst team since they let go of their core players, including Soto. It will be their fifth straight season finishing under .500 in a division with highly competitive teams.

We need to cherish these Patrick Corbin Days because they are coming to an end, as he is in the last year of his contract. The worst pitcher in baseball in terms of losses and runs allowed has been better recently, and he is coming off a quality start.

That was against Colorado, whose road offense is bottom-tier. The Yankees’ bats should stay hot.

Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-135)

Houston Astros (+124) at Philadelphia Phillies (-148) | O/U 8.5 (-112/-108)

The Astros have taken advantage of Seattle's downfall and a bad division overall to possibly win their seventh American League West title in the last eight seasons.

If you look at the pitching earlier in the season, you would have never guessed that it would be their anchor, but since July 27 they have been second in ERA (3.19). That was without Justin Verlander, as he's missed the last two months with a neck injury. He came back strong with five innings, allowed two earned and six strikeouts against the Red Sox.

The Phillies will likely win the National League East, but they have aspirations of being the top team in the NL. The MLB has made it important to be that top team because it means they get a first-round bye, which saves innings for your arms.

It’s hard not to believe they are the best team because they are strong in every facet. The offense is fifth in runs scored (638), the batting average is (.259), and the pitching is fourth in ERA (3.70) and WHIP (1.20). Aaron Nola is part of this fantastic rotation, and he's allowed two total earned in his last two starts.

Pick: Under 8.5 Total Runs (-108)
