Atlanta Braves (-102) at Miami Marlins (-116) | O/U 8.5 (-105/-115)
The Marlins have a starting pitching advantage tonight. According to FanGraphs, Max Meyer has a 3.21 ERA, 4.27 xERA, 3.47 xFIP and 3.48 SIERA in nine starts this season. Meanwhile, JR Ritchie has a 3.32 ERA in four starts, which isn’t supported by his 4.53 xERA, 5.17 xFIP and 5.53 SIERA.
Meyer has also excelled at home. The 27-year-old righty has tallied a 3.41 ERA and 3.04 xFIP in 66 innings at home since last year. Ritchie was quite lucky in two road starts, as evidenced by his 3.75 ERA and 5.25 xFIP this season. The rookie righty walked six batters and struck out only two in his last start on the road. Furthermore, Ritchie has a putrid 16.1% walk rate and 18.3% strikeout rate in his four starts.
The Braves have a potent offense if this turns into a slugfest. Nevertheless, the Marlins have a decent enough offense. Miami is tied for 17th in wRC+ (99) versus righties and tied for 12th in wRC+ (106) at home this year. The Marlins should have enough punch to rough up Ritchie and support Meyer en route to a win tonight.
Pick: Marlins Moneyline (-116)
Athletics (-124) at Los Angeles Angels (+106) | O/U 9.0 (-110/-110)
J.T. Ginn has sizable home-and-road splits, favoring road tilts. Opponents have roughed up Ginn to the tune of a 6.38 ERA, 4.47 xFIP and 1.64 WHIP in 66.1 innings in his hitter-friendly home ballpark since last year. Conversely, Ginn has a 2.54 ERA, 2.89 xFIP and 0.98 WHIP in 67.1 innings on the road since 2025.
Ginn also has another notable split that’s critical for tonight’s matchup. The right-handed hurler has been tattooed for a .407 wOBA by 291 left-handed batters since last season. Ginn has held 276 right-handed batters to a .254 wOBA since 2025.
Nolan Schanuel, Yoan Moncada and Josh Lowe are the only left-handed batters and switch-hitters who the Angels typically start against right-handed pitchers. Adam Frazier is the only left-handed batter or switch-hitter on their bench. Even if the Angels use all the left-handed batters or switch-hitters on their active roster, it’s an unimposing group.
Walbert Urena has a rock-solid 3.29 ERA and 2.96 xERA in seven appearances (five starts) in his rookie campaign. His 4.50 xFIP, 4.73 SIERA, 14.3 WHIP and 14.3% walk rate paint a less favorable picture of his work this season, though.
The Angels also have a dumpster fire bullpen. Their relievers are 29th in ERA (5.47) this season. The Athletics have a lousy bullpen, too. They’re 25th in ERA (4.68) this season. Nevertheless, an advantage is an advantage.
The A’s also have an advantage on offense. They’re eighth in wRC+ (110) against righties this year, while the Angels are 24th in wRC+ (93) against righties. All in all, the advantages for the A’s tonight should result in a win for the road favorites.
Pick: Athletics Moneyline (-124)
