Friday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
If this number was one lower, then this would be the play of the day. Unfortunately, oddsmakers are spot on with their lines today, and this total is set exactly where it should be. That being said, you have a pitcher with 115 strikeouts in 92.0 innings going against the most strikeout-prone team in baseball. You have to take this over.

The Mariners have 1,251 strikeouts this season, 55 more than the team with the next most. They're also batting just .216, the worst average in the league, and they have scored the fourth-fewest runs. Skenes has struck out more than eight batters just three times this season, but there's no way he gets chased early in this one. Expect at least 7.0 innings. Against the Mariners, that means at least nine strikeouts.
Schwellenbach has proved very difficult for opposing hitters in his last four starts. He's struck out at least seven batters in each of those appearances, including double-digits twice during that span. In his 12 starts this season, he's struck out at least seven six times.
While he's hot right now, we believe he is bound to cool off tonight. The Angels have the 19th-most strikeouts in the league. They struggle to score runs, but they're good at making contact. Therefore, they may not chase Schwellenbach early, but they should be able to keep him at six or fewer strikeouts. This number is inflated because of Schwellenbach's recent performances. He won't go over six tonight.
Ramirez has only faced Aaron Civale three times in his career. He is 1-of-3 and that one hit was single. There's not much to pull from there, so we're going to have to look at what each player has done this season to determine whether or not Ramirez can hit this over.
In August, Ramirez is batting .327 with four doubles and four home runs. He's gone over 1.5 total bases and recorded an extra-base hit in three of his last four games. Civale hasn't been very good this season. He's allowed 126 hits in 118.1 innings. He has a 5.02 ERA, and he's allowed 23 home runs. Taking Ramirez tonight makes the most sense.
