This Season: 95-95
This is a high number, but the over is the only way to go. Lopez has 221 strikeouts in 183.2 innings this season. Earlier this year, he struck out nine when he faced the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels have struggled offensively throughout the year, and they have the third-most strikeouts in the league.
Lopez has only struck out 18 Angels' batters in 45 at-bats, but his performance earlier this year shows he has this team's number. Lopez has only struck out nine or more batters once in his last 12 starts. Perhaps we are looking too far back in the season to expect him to hit this over. But if he pitches 6.0 or 7.0 innings against this team, he may hit double-digits.
Sale has an interesting matchup with the Chicago White Sox tonight. When facing this current lineup, he has struck out 20 batters in 56 at-bats. However, Elvis Andrus and Tim Anderson account for 13 of those strikeouts. So, while Sale's numbers against this lineup are good, they're skewed by two batters who just can't master him.
Sale is coming off a massive 10-strikeout performance. However, before that, he had struck out more than seven batters just once in eight starts. It seems this line was made based on his last performance and not his season as a whole. Therefore, we have to play the under.
Josh Naylor is 0-2 in his career against Dean Kremer, but he has had such a good September that we think he will pick up his first hit tonight. This month, Naylor is hitting .339, and he has 21 hits in 17 games. Additionally, he has hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games.
Even though he's had no prior success against him, Kremer is a good matchup for Naylor. Kremer has allowed 162 hits in 164.0 innings, and he has a WHIP of 1.30. With this in mind, we expect Naylor to get at least one hit tonight.
