Saturday ended up being a tough day down at the ballparks for my Saturday picks in general. Jarren Duran ended up being a huge letdown, as he failed to reach base for the first time since May 2. Ronald Acuna Jr. ended up falling short of his prop line by a measly half-point, and Christian Yelich provided the only plus day, eclipsing his own fantasy hitter score total. I'll be looking for some redemption on Sunday afternoon, hopefully tilting our overall season record back toward favorable numbers.
Current Overall Record: 25-17-1

Anthony Volpe Over 6.5 Hitter Fantasy Score
I was knocked down hard on Saturday afternoon, but I'm jumping right back up and back onto the same prop line that gave me fits. Anthony Volpe has the stone-cold minimum line for Sunday's affair with San Diego at 6.5, which quite frankly makes no sense to me.

By all accounts, Volpe is firing on all cylinders in the month of May and even more so over the past week or so. He is riding an extremely impressive 17-game hit streak, and he has gone 5-for-11 (.454) with a double, a triple, and five runs scored over his past three games. His Hitter Fantasy Score lines have been no match for him of late, and he has easily cleared a line of 6.5 the last four times out.
Volpe and the Yankees are set to square off against Joe Musgrove and his 6.14 ERA for Sunday's matinee showing, and the second-year shortstop should once again be atop New York's prolific lineup. There look to be few better picks for this particular prop, given Volpe's recent output versus the number he'll be aiming for on Sunday.
Logan Webb Over 5.0 Pitcher Strikeouts
On Sunday afternoon, Giants' ace Logan Webb will be looking to eclipse the five-strikeout mark in four of his last five appearances, and he will have a great chance to do so against the New York Mets. Expectations for run-scoring in this game are already exceedingly low, at just a 7.5 line, and Webb is the type of pitcher that typically goes deep into games.
In five career appearances versus the Mets, the 27-year-old righty sports a 3-1 record with a 2.61 ERA and 27 strikeouts. On average, he punches out just under five and a half batters when it comes to New York, and he'll be looking to do just that on Sunday. Webb has notched at least five strikeouts in three straight games and lasted seven, six, and six innings across those outings, respectively. The Mets have lost five straight, and San Francisco will be looking to make that six to close out the weekend, which would be large in part due to a strong Webb performance.
Oneil Cruz Under 0.5 Total Bases
Despite the electric nature behind the idea of Oneil Cruz as a player, it is hard to get behind him right now amidst a season-long struggle to this point. Cruz is slashing just .247/.302/.723 in 2024, and he has yet to truly break out as we have seen him do at times in seasons past.
Further going against Cruz is the opposition for Sunday afternoon's affair, as he will be tasked with southpaw Chris Sale starting for Atlanta on the other end. Cruz has not faced Sale in his career, and this is just about the worst time for Cruz in this given matchup, as Sale is currently rolling in CY Young-caliber fashion.
Sale is currently 7-1 with a 2.22 season-long ERA, and he has been particularly dominant in the month of May, hurling to the tune of a 0.36 ERA and allowing just a single run on 19 hits across 25 innings pitched. Even more in his favor against Cruz are his splits against lefties, in which he has allowed just a .149 batting average and three total runs this season. Meanwhile, Cruz has been dreadful against southpaws, as he has gone 6-for-55 (.109) with 22 strikeouts against them.
