Six individual wins in a row were on the table but unfortunately, we were unable to get it done on Saturday. Gunnar Henderson fell just short of his line against the Rangers which was just enough to sour an otherwise productive day. This was also in a game in which the Orioles piled on eight runs and jumped out ahead on Max Scherzer as expected. So, our head was at least in the right place overall. On the bright side, our other two picks absolutely smashed (Vladimir Guerrero Jr. "Over" 1.5 Total Bases and Cristopher Sanchez "Under" 5.5 Pitcher Strikeouts. A 3-0 Sunday record would give us nine wins out of our last ten picks- I'm with it.

Seth Lugo Over 5.5 Pitcher Strikeouts
It's a "too low alert" on 34-year-old veteran Seth Lugo's strikeout line for Sunday, particularly as it comes against a weak divisional foe in the form of the Chicago White Sox. While the strikeout numbers haven't been there in Lugo's first two outings versus Chicago this season, he has still dominated them across just over 13 innings pitched. Both times he faced them were also at the very beginning of the season as the 2024 All-Star was still ramping up for his new team.
Lugo has been a different creature in his last five outings, fulfilling 29.2 innings pitched with 37 total punchouts or just under 7.5 per game. The White Sox currently sit in the bottom half of the MLB in team hitter strikeouts per game, and their weak lineup went down swinging 10 times just yesterday against these Royals.
Seth Lugo has done it for us before on this very prop, and I would be very surprised to not see him do it again as the weekend comes to a close.
Ildemaro Vargas Under 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs
Sometimes picking on random underwhelming MLB players can be the name of the game when it comes to gambling, and Ildemaro Vargas looks to be our lucky contestant of the day. Vargas is an eight-year journeyman veteran who has never been what we'd consider a "slugger." His 2024 line presents no lies here either, as he currently holds .258/.315/.354 numbers with just a single homer and 15 total extra-base hits through 178 at-bats.
The first half of July has also been Vargas' worst month so far, and he has collected just six hits across 31 cumulative plate appearances. His lone dinger did come against the Mets back on the 9th, but other than that he has just one double and zero multi-hit games.
Sunday's matchup could present additional problems for Vargas as opposing southpaw Andrew Abbott has been pretty good for the Reds in 2024. The lefty has faced Vargas three times previously and has yet to serve up a hit to him while having also punched him out once.
Trea Turner Over 0.5 Runs
I'm going to take the bait on the Phillies’ continued ascent, and on Sunday I'll put it on the back of Turner as he takes on a plus-matchup in the form of left-handed Pittsburgh hurler Marco Gonzales. Turner has also simply had a fantastic rebound 2024 season, highlighted by his pristine .341 average and counting stats, despite missing time earlier this year.
Turner has also been a run-scoring machine of late, scoring 15 times in July alone. That includes at least once in three of his last five games and six of the last ten. Marco Gonzales has only started four games this season and he has been hittable overall, allowing 5.5 hits per game on average. Philadelphia should be able to jump all over him from the jump on Sunday and a high team total basically locks Turner in to score at least once.
