Thursday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks Record This Season: 19-17
There’s nothing like leading the article off with a faceless player on PrizePicks. Tobias Myers is a Minor League veteran who finally made his Big League debut with the Brewers a couple of weeks ago. Nothing is amazing about his pitching, but he should be able to find four punchouts here.
That’s because he takes on the St. Louis Cardinals, who have the fifth-highest K% (24.7%) and are tied for 22nd in WRC+ (91) when facing righties. Nineteen of the last 25 right-handed starters to square off with them have exceeded this low total, and so should Myers. He has done so in two of his three starts.
Anybody taking on the Rockies is capable of finding at least five strikeouts. Colorado has the worst wRC+ (71) and third-worst K% (28.3%) when facing righties this season. Typically, Coors Field has been a tough place to pitch, but so far, that has not been the case this season, and the Rockies’ rates are slightly worse at home. Nineteen of the last 25 right-handed starters to face them have found five punchouts. Keaton Winn is coming off a horrendous rain-inflicted start but has exceeded this total in four of seven starts this season.
Arizona is going through a rough World Series hangover and can’t seem to get anything going offensively. They are 25th in wRC+ (71) over the past three weeks against righties, and 10 of the last 13 right-handed starters to face them across this stretch have stayed under this mark. Greene is under this line in five of seven starts and ranks in the top 89th percentile in xERA and 83rd in K%.
