Milwaukee Brewers @ New York Mets

After already getting postponed due to rain, the Brewers and Mets had to wait another day before playing their Opening Day game. Milwaukee will send Freddy Peralta to the bump, while the Mets will counter with Jose Quintana.

The Brewers are coming into this game with a solid pitching staff. Peralta had a solid 2023, posting a 3.86 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP, accompanied by a 12-10 record in 30 outings spanning 165.2 IP. He might not be Corbin Burnes, but he's solid. Given Peralta's consistency and reliability over the last few seasons and that the Brewers went 6-1 against the Mets last year, the Brewers seem to have a good chance of winning this game. With Peralta's expectations, I feel confident in him limiting the Mets and leading Milwaukee to victory.

This is where the Brewers’ hitting comes into play. William Contreras is 3-for-4 against Quintana, so he will get a couple of chances in a solid matchup, seeing Quintana's pitches well. The Brewers added some solid additions to their lineup with Rhys Hoskins and calling up Jackson Chourio, who had a solid Spring Training. Given their boosts and how they already averaged over four runs a game, I'm comfortable taking their overs. It's a mild SGP to start, but we gotta ease into it.

New York Yankees @ Houston Astros

The pitching duel between Cristian Javier and Carlos Rodon is one to watch. Both pitchers have had their share of ups and downs but possess the talent to dominate on the mound. This could very well be a low-scoring affair if they bring their A-game.

Generally speaking, betting Juan Soto overs is also a general strategy to get behind. Soto has faced Javier before. At plus odds to tally an RBI with the short porch in left, I am happy to take his overs.

I will add that I still expect the Astros to win the game, as most of the rest of the Yankees’ lineup has struggled against Javier historically. After last night, they have to come back with a dub, right? Rodon is fine but not a reliable arm, and I can see the Astros doing well enough against him to get a 5-3 victory.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays

  1. Leg 1: Rays Moneyline (-123)
  2. Leg 2: Total Over 8.5 (+105)
  3. Leg 3: Randy Arozarena Over 0.5 RBI (+180)

In case you can't tell, I expect the Rays to win today in a high-scoring affair. Both lineups have popped with a pair of home runs in yesterday’s game and a different game leader for the Blue Jays in home runs, batting and RBI.

Yandy Diaz led all three categories for the Rays yesterday, and it is tempting to go back to him. With his performance, his lines are a little too juiced for my liking, so I will go to the next option, Randy Arozarena. Arozarena has performed historically well in his past at-bats against Chris Bassit, going 3-for-8 with a home run and two doubles.

Aaron Civale is on the mound for the Rays. I don’t think he’ll shut down the Blue Jays but rather hold them at bay. It's a fine line to walk, but the Rays were consistent last season when they were moneyline favorites, winning 65% of such games. This will be a fun game to watch and hopefully a better parlay to cash.

Parlay Odds: +575
