Yesterday’s big baseball story was the Angels placing all of their trade acquisitions on waivers. They were the only team to do so but they were certainly the most surprising. As we have stated before, teams will look for ways to play their young guys and this will lead to some interesting lineups as the season progresses. Let’s take a look at the SGP slate for today.
Wednesday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlays
Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins
Guardians ML (+135) and o4.5 Runs (+170)
Tanner Bibee has been fantastic in his rookie season, only allowing more than three runs in two starts this season. Despite the Twins’ offense being one of the best in the league over the last month with a 121 wRC+, Bibee has proven to be consistently good and should be able to put Cleveland in a position to win. The tougher side of this bet will be the runs for Cleveland. Their offense has been bottom three with a wRC+ of 79 in the last month, and overall, they are struggling mightily. Sonny Gray has had several starts this season where he has gotten himself into trouble with far too many walks, and if he does that again, the high-contact Guardians approach could cause issues for him.
This is a simple one: Ramirez is the team’s best hitter, and his odds are at a solid price. He is one of the few hitters on the roster with real pop, so if they score he has to be involved.
Combined Odds: +425
Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs
Brewers -1.5 (+155) and o4.5 Runs (+170)
Based on the O/U run totals, the weather will likely have an impact on this one. The Cubs have been one of the hotter offenses lately, but Brandon Woodruff is still one of the best pitchers in baseball and has picked up where he left off after returning from injury. The Brewers have a big advantage on the pitching side in this one, and their offense has enough talent and a lack of reliance on the long ball to score enough runs to hit this over.
Sal Frelick 2+ TBs (+150)
Frelick’s regular numbers do not jump off the page, but he has shown decent pop and enough speed to hit the over on this bet. He has a respectable ISO of 0.157 and hitting left-handed should give him a bump against the righty Hendricks.
Combined Odds: +475
Cincinnati Reds at San Francisco Giants
Reds ML (+135) and o4.5 Runs (+185)
Hunter Greene has been awful since returning from the IL, but the main issue has been command. His walk totals are far too high, and while he has always had a similar issue, making another start should help him get back to finding the zone. When he is throwing strikes, the long ball is his nemesis, but playing this game in San Fran should help with that issue. Logan Webb has been very solid this season, and while he does not excel in any one area, he is perfectly above average across the board. The Reds’ offense is struggling due to strikeouts lately, but their ISO is around league average still, and with the youth and speed of their offense, they can score in a lot of ways even when they are not crushing the ball as a team.
Elly has been struggling mostly due to whiffing way too much, but he has a few things going for him. He hits at the top of the order, he has insane speed, and he hits the ball insanely hard. These things make him a decent bet for 2+ TBs, as he just needs one hit in a gap in order to make it hit.
Combined Odds: +450
