Tampa Bay Rays at Pittsburgh Pirates

  • Leg 1: Pirates -1.5 (+140)
  • Leg 2: Paul Skenes Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-165)
  • Leg 3: Pirates Over 3.5 Total Runs (-160)

June started as a brutal month for the Rays as they went 5-8, but they have been much better by winning four of their last six. Injuries have played a part in some of their struggles, especially with starting pitching; Jeffery Springs has made some rehab starts and could return soon, and there is a possibility of Shane McClanahan making a return later in the season after having Tommy John surgery last August. They will likely have to settle for the Wild Card due to the Yankees and Orioles having double-digit leads in the American League East. Aaron Civale was a trade deadline acquisition for the Rays that hasn't worked out, as he's 4-8 with a 5.40 ERA in 25 starts.

The Pirates, at 37-39, have the same wins and one fewer loss than the Rays, but they are only 6.5 games back in the National League Central and should be looking to bolster this club. The most important thing they need to do is acquire some bats; they are 24th in runs scored, 26th in batting average and 28th in slugging. They are a much better pitching staff, which has much to do with Paul Skenes. Last year's top overall pick has not been a letdown for Pittsburgh, as his 34.4% strikeout rate is in the 96th percentile and he has yet to allow more than three earned in his six starts.

Tampa Bay's offense is 24th in strikeout rate, so this could be an excellent day for Skenes and their chances to raise the Jolly Roger.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Philadelphia Phillies

  • Leg 1: Phillies -1.5 (+110)
  • Leg 2: Bryce Harper  Over 2.5 Total Bases (+110)
  • Leg 3: Phillies Over 5.5 Total Runs (+110)

The Phillies power was there on Saturday as they captured their second-highest run total of the season, grabbing the 12-1 win. That offensive performance is nothing new, as they lead the National League by scoring 5.08 runs per game and a league-leading 5.49 at home. Cristopher Sanchez has been on a tremendous run with the Phillies, going 6-2 in his last eight starts. He has a 2.44 ERA and 2.29 FIP in that span.

We saw the Diamondbacks’ lineup support them throughout last season during that unlikely run to the World Series. If they want a chance to get back, they'll have to do it again. They are hitting .254, which is sixth in the league, and are seventh in runs per game. The pitching was their undoing against a red-hot Rangers lineup last year, and it's continuing this season. They are 26th in ERA, and yesterday was their seventh time giving up 10 or more runs this season. We could see it again with Slade Cecconi on the mound. He's had some great performances, including going six scoreless and allowing only three hits to the Nationals, but he has allowed six or more earned runs in four starts this year.

Cecconi has allowed an awful 2.1 home runs per nine innings and now faces the Phillies, who are fifth in home run percentage in one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks. This could be another offensive explosion today.
