Toronto Blue Jays vs. Minnesota Twins
- Leg 1: Blue Jays Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (+105)
- Leg 2: Simeon Woods Richardson Over 4.5 Hits Allowed (-167)
- Leg 3: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-143)
- Leg 4: Patrick Corbin Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+109)
Toronto's offense was quiet to start this season, but the bats have woken up lately. The Blue Jays are 7-4 over their last 11 games, averaging 4.5 runs per game in this stretch. Let's count on the lineup getting to Twins starter Simeon Woods Richardson on Friday night.
Woods Richardson has struggled to a 6.30 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over his first six starts. The right-hander's 6.02 FIP isn't much better, while his 11% strikeout rate ranks dead last among MLB starters with at least 30 innings pitched. He's also allowed a .309 batting average thus far, which is the third-worst for pitchers with 30+ innings.
It sets up well for Toronto to rack up runs. The Blue Jays boast a top-10 offense against right-handed pitching over the past week, with a .356 wOBA and 126 wRC+ in this stretch. Plus, their 19.4% strikeout rate versus righties is the second-lowest mark in the Majors. That's an issue for Woods Richardson, who pitches to contact. He actually faced the Jays earlier this season and gave up five runs.
One Toronto hitter to back in this matchup is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The star first baseman has been among the league's best this season, with a .354 batting average and .907 OPS. He's also on fire lately, with a .425 average and 1.052 OPS over the past 11 games. Guerrero has gone over 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBIs in seven of the last 11 contests. Plus, for what it's worth, Guerrero is 4-for-6 in his career against Woods Richardson.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the game, Patrick Corbin's strikeouts could be capped. The Twins’ lineup has just an 18.4% strikeout rate over the past two weeks versus left-handed pitching (seventh-lowest in the Majors). They also have a 14% walk rate against southpaws in this stretch, which is second-best. As for Corbin, he's averaging four strikeouts per start so far, with under 3.5 strikeouts in two of those. He faced Minnesota once already and struck out only three batters in four shaky innings.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Washington Nationals
- Leg 1: Jacob Misiorowski Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-147)
- Leg 2: Jacob Misiorowski Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-122)
- Leg 3: Jake Irvin Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-122)
- Leg 4: Brice Turang Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-137)
Let's now turn our attention to a National League matchup for our other SGP. The Nationals host the Brewers with an intriguing starting pitching showdown on tap. Jacob Misiorowski starts for Milwaukee, while Jake Irvin toes the rubber for Washington. Let's look at some props for both arms.
Misiorowski continues to show elite swing-and-miss stuff. The Brewers young right-hander boasts a dominant 37.2% strikeout rate this year, ranking in the 97th percentile, with a 39.5% whiff rate (98th percentile). He's struck out at least nine batters in four of his six starts thus far, while averaging 8.5 punchouts per outing. In terms of hits, he’s allowed four or fewer in four of his six outings.
Milwaukee's rising star also owns a solid 3.31 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over his first six starts. His 3.03 xERA and 2.75 xFIP are even better, too. Count on Misiorowski holding Washington in check today. Over the past two weeks against right-handed pitching, the Nationals have a .209 batting average (29th) and .291 wOBA (28th). They also have a 26.1% strikeout rate versus righties over the last week, which is the third-highest mark in the Majors.
On the other side, Irvin's strikeouts will be much harder to come by. The Nationals right-hander actually boasts a career-high 26.4% strikeout rate so far this season. However, we should expect some negative regression in that department. Irvin had just a 15.8% strikeout rate last season, and he's never been above 20% in his three previous seasons.
Irvin will take on a Brewers offense that's been tough on righties. In the split this year, Milwaukee has a 20.5% strikeout rate (seventh-lowest in the league) and a 12% walk rate (second-highest). Irvin actually already faced this lineup earlier this season and struck out five. Still, that familiarity will help the Brew Crew force him to work harder for punchouts in this rematch.
Brice Turang should especially play a role in Milwaukee's success against Irvin. The Brewers second baseman owns a .927 OPS and a .291 batting average this season. He went through a mini slump last week, but has reeled off three straight multi-hit games coming into today. Turang now has over 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBIs in 17 out of 28 games (61%). He's also batting .319 with a 1.028 OPS against right-handed pitching.
