San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

      Leg #1: Dodgers -1.5 (-112)

The Dodgers hold a major edge in both pitching and lineup matchups tonight against San Francisco.

Shohei Ohtani has been dominant this season, carrying a 2.25 xERA while continuing to limit damage against both sides of the plate. That's a tough draw for a Giants offense that has been ice cold recently and now has to deal with one of the hottest pitchers in baseball in Dodger Stadium.

On the other side, Robbie Ray's splits against right-handed hitters are a major concern against this Dodgers lineup. Ray owns a 4.67 xERA against righties this season, and Los Angeles can stack dangerous right-handed bats throughout the order, including Mookie Betts, Will Smith, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández. That becomes even more dangerous in a hitter-friendly environment where the Dodgers' power upside plays up.

With the Dodgers holding a clear advantage on the mound, a hotter offense and multiple favorable platoon matchups against Ray, Los Angeles is in a strong position to win this game comfortably and cover the run line tonight.

Leg #2: Mookie Betts 2+ Total Bases (-108)

Mookie Betts is just two games in from returning from injury, and while he is only 1-for-9 in those two games, he has only struck out once. Which means he is seeing the ball well, just not getting the results. Seeing a familiar face on the mound may help Betts get going.

Betts has gone 3-for-9 in his career against Ray, with a home run and a .667 slugging rate, showing he's seen the left-hander well over the years. Ray's biggest issue continues to be right-handed hitters, who drive the ball hard and rack up elevated damage numbers when he falls behind in counts.

Leg #3: Robbie Ray Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-154)

Robbie Ray's splits against right-handed hitters are his biggest weakness in this matchup, and the Dodgers are built perfectly to exploit it.

Ray enters this game carrying a 4.67 xERA against right-handed bats this season, and now he faces a Los Angeles lineup loaded with dangerous righties in the middle of the order. Mookie Betts, Will Smith, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández all step into favorable platoon spots against a pitcher who has struggled to consistently put away right-handed hitters.

Leg #4: Dodgers Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-200)

The Dodgers profile as a difficult matchup stylistically for Ray. Last season, Ray faced the Dodgers three times, allowing two, five and five earned runs. Overall, most current Dodgers batters have done well against Ray, including 11 home runs. Los Angeles ranks among the better teams in baseball at extending at-bats and drawing walks, which can quickly drive up pitch counts and create scoring opportunities.

Against lefties, the Dodgers have the ninth-lowest strikeout rate and the 10th-highest batting average on balls in play (BABIP). While production hasn’t been as high as in past years, the underlying metrics tell a different story. After losing the first two games of the series, I'd expect a big bounce-back game for the home team.
