Regression was bound to hit for the Sleeper series, and it came at about the halfway point of the season. It has been a tough past couple of days, but we’ll keep trucking along, even in these smaller slates. Here are three of my favorite player predictions for Thursday, June 27.

MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 115-66
The Blue Jays right-hander has had a hard time staying under this line. Twelve of the 16 teams he has faced have exceeded this number on the season, and he ranks in the bottom 12th percentile in xBA and 27th in average exit velocity. Jose Berrios now gets to face the Yankees, who have hit him well in the past. The active roster has a .310 batting average across 158 combined plate appearances against him.
Jordan Hicks has been inconsistent, at best, this year as he transitions from the bullpen to the rotation. With that being said, he hardly ever makes it past five innings of work, presenting value on the under on his earned run prop. He has stayed under this mark in 12 of his 16 starts this season and now draws a struggling Cubs lineup to hit in the spacious Oracle Park. They are 26th in wRC+ (87) against righties over the past two weeks. Nine of the past 11 right-handed starters to face them have failed to eclipse this mark as well.
Corbin Burnes has been stellar for the Orioles, but he is not exactly racking up the strikeouts the way he did in the past. He’s consistently finding around five to six a game but has exceeded more than six punchouts in just three of his 16 starts. So, in a tough strikeout matchup, like the one he has today, it might be a good reason to fade him in the punchout department. The Rangers might not be hitting the ball well against righties, but they are putting the ball in play and are tied for the fifth-lowest strikeout rate (19.9%) over the past 30 days.
