MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 197-114 (63.3%)
The Mets’ southpaw has been rolling through his opponents as of late. Peterson owns a 1.81 ERA (3.00 FIP) over his last seven starts and has exceeded this line in six of those outings. He pitched into the seventh inning on four of those occasions as well. Tonight, he and the Mets are in Toronto to take on the Blue Jays. They have been struggling at the dish against lefties more recently, and are 24th in wRC+ (73), eighth in K% (27.5%), and have the eighth-highest swing rate since the start of August.
Sticking with the same wager, let’s look to Rey-Lo to go at least six innings in a plus-matchup. He faces a young Nationals squad, whom he has shut down for six innings on multiple occasions this season as it is. They are 20th in wRC+ (94) over the past two weeks facing righties and have averaged the fourth-fewest pitches per plate appearance (3.78) on the season. Lopez has had a resurgent year with Atlanta, ranking in the top 87th percentile in xFIP, 82nd in K%, and 79th in CSW% among all starters this year. He has gone over this mark in 14 of his 22 starts.
Unlike the other two starters mentioned above, Bradley has been horrific lately. He holds an 8.92 ERA (6.04 FIP) over his last seven starts and has eclipsed this mark in each of those outings. Pitching in front of the Philadelphia crowd will not come easy, and the Phillies are 11th in wRC+ (114) against righties over the past two weeks. It’s only right to fade Taj while he pitches like this.
